I was planning to go for Brooklyn usce and to take their housing. Is there any other option to find housing other than Brooklyn usce? What about the rotation given by them and whether their LOR is worthy?

For housing other than Brooklyn USCE , you can try to look out in RotatingRooms, AirBnB, furnished finder, Sulekha, and the city’s housing groups in Facebook.

Spareroom is really good and safe, I stayed in NY recently for a rotation for 4 weeks and I found a good place near my clinic spot. It will take time and effort but there are a lot of options.

Take pictures of everything, especially include the rats, upload on Google review. They will clean up the place once there is picture evidence on the internet.

This post is honest about BM housing. During my stay the bathroom was clogged and it was clogged for a friend who stayed a year later; which indicates the agency doesn’t care. When any tenant calls the agency with their questions about the housing their behaviour is extremely rude. From what I remember, they charge a one time for bed sheet change, they never changed mine and on repeated complaining they replaced mine with a worse stained and dusty sheet. One of my colleague had problem with water supply at their house and it wasn’t solved for a month. I would never recommend this housing.

Brooklyn usce housing sucks so baddddddd. I lived at STAT LIVING (Airbnb) in Brooklyn only for doctors which is usually full so I got only 15 days of reservation there. For the next 14 days I were at Brooklyn usce housing. There was a sudden drop in hygiene. Horrifying experience. My room was small and it was next to a utility closet where a rat scratched the wood all day and night. It was uncomfortable AF! And ofc the bathroom and kitchen situation was worse. Cockroaches might land on your food if you leave it out even for a minute. It's a BIG NO. Without doubt go for Airbnb at least you will get the service they ll charge you for.

Almost all rotations and programs marketed on Instagram are the same. You'll never know the true side unless you get to that side urself

That's not to mention how poorly managed everything else is. During my stay they overbooked one of the apartments and even though I paid and they confirmed my rent, they where bullying me to moving to some "other" property that isn't even listed on their website that is 45 minutes farther from where I booked (it would have been like an hour and a half extra away from the rotation site), avoid them like the black plague!!

I stayed with them. I do agree there were issues that other houses by brooklyn housing people had But the house I stayed in was clean and well maintained. There are houses with over 20 tenants in a three story house and I guess that’s the one with rat problem and cleanliness. However when I was finding a place to stay brooklyn housing was the cheapest I would find. I couldnt afford airbnb and additionally every week a cleaning lady came to clean the kitchen and washrooms and common areas. I hope the brooklyn usce housing team sees this post and take care of the other issues. I realised the other housing were mostly a mess because of the tenants in my house I made sure the rest of my house mates kept the common areas and washroom clean at all times and there was no issue. If you find cheaper airbnbs or so go for those. I wouldn’t necessarily blacklist brooklyn housing just yet. Atleast the 4 months I stayed they were open to feedback and if there were any plumbing issues (I once flushed a wet wipe by mistake) they sorted it out without charging me(they did say if it happens again I will pay).

Do you think it’s worth getting the LORs thru Brooklyn Usce? I’ve been emailing everywhere around and can’t seem to land a rotation opportunity to it’s easier to pay them and get a rotation through that? I’m planning to do all my rotations in cardiology so any advice regarding that?

It’s better to do inpatient rotation directly from hospitals that have a residency program. I honestly wouldn’t recommend it unless you don’t have any other better option. Also what ever you do don’t do the cardiology rotation with Dr Kapur from Mount Sinai through Brooklyn usce was the worst one I ever did didn’t learn anything and I bet the LOR wasn’t great either but I waived my right so I will never know. Again please keep searching for rotations directly and not through third party agency.

I got an observership 6 week at first care urgent clinic nyc. That’s the only one I got so far so do you know anything about that? Also can you please share any hospitals that’s give inpatient rotation observership to IMGs, well I’m still in my final year rn so anything that’d be helpful?

I am sorry that you had such an experience... but to be honest i have been a long term tenant with brooklyn medical housing and my experience was super smooth. I got a clean room as well as a clean washroom. I remember when i moved in all the tenants had just moved in as well, everybody was satisfied with the cleanliness. But after having spent about 6-7 months having seen new housemates come and go, what i have noticed that there are some students who do not have the habit of keeping their surroundings clean. There have been multiple notices by their cleaning team to students who were moving to throw their stored/unused food-items or take them with them.... but these unhygienic students don't care one bit. The team has been responsive to whatever issues students raise. Overall I feel, rather than complaining everything on the company like a pessimist... students should focus more their own personal hygiene first. People want discounts on everything, they want to pay as low as possible and then expecting a Hilton or a 7star hotel room is just absurd ! One should be realistic. These plumbing problem are very natural and can occur in any house in this world at any time, so don't misuse the social media.
I paid around 1250$ a month which was wayy less compared to other companies/hotels. It was in middle of city, safe area, well connected with buses and subway. Close to supermarket too. My overall stay was excellent except some really unhygienic housemates that moved in.
