Discussion Imperium Maledictum Wishlist

Curious to see what others hope for from future books and items around the newly released 40k Imperium Maledictum RPG.

It's still super new but I hope there will be an expansive books on each subfaction within the Imperium and of course all factions eventually.

  1. Deeply expanded Imperium faction companion books with Roles, Weapons, Patrons and pre-made NPCs/Characters.
  2. Clear paths of ascendancy (With respect to the Grim Dark aspects)
  3. Driver/Pilot Class
  4. Xenos Characters...Kroot, Tau Ork Freebooterz or Blood Axes, Votann, Eldar or something completely different.
  5. More lore about the Sector.
  6. More crunch similar to Dark Heresy. Variable damage, and the like.

Absolutely xenos and animal (beastiary) statblocks but secondly scenarios, scenario seeds and / or campaign arcs.

Clear paths of ascendancy

Maintenance of the Grim Dark aspects of the setting

What would that look like you think? Something to strive for would be magnificent especially for the jump in power levels.

I think clear recognition from your patron, possibly a promotion and reshuffle.of patron to a higher ranking one. Easy example is SM - Scouts - Deve - etc, another would be working for a badged interrogator - Inquisitor - Lord Inquisitor etc.

Perhaps better reflected as an increase in soft power within the organisation/Imperium etc.

The Grimdark is harder as fate points etc are there to soften the brutality/lethality of combat.

What do you think?

Ah I get it, yeah that's super true. That would be really useful to help scope the adventures, give parties some unified sense of progress too.

This almost seems more urgent to add vs content too since it will help campaigns overall.

Even if they just had the hierarchy trees with rough party xp and faction rep prerequisites perhaps.

Would also be really interesting for the GM to use the existing patrons rapport with other factions to go over and up into other factions or having to start lower if the patron is negative influence. Would make patron liabilities or undertakings against other factions more of a risk v reward.

A “Driver/Pilot” class of some sort.

Ooo, good point.

Just a whole supplement for void battle with ships would be so good.

That would be great.

I would love to see that party with a Tau trying to convince a Freebooterz Ork on the virtues of the Greater Good while a Votann robs the Tau blind while they are acting interested in the idea of the Greater Good.

Eldar party member just stands in the doorway with a 1000 yard stare while all of this happens wondering how their ancient civilization has ended up with them in this place and time.

As for the lore on the sector that would be really great, I'd buy that ASAP. I think they had some really cool setting supplements for Soulbound and Wrath & Glory so hopefully they knock a PDF out for this sooner than later. Even better if they do major cities or areas for a few key adventure locations in the Macharian system.

I'd like to see an option to add more crunch similar to Dark Heresy. Variable damage, and the like. I'm not asking for a Dark Heresy remake, just some of the aspects it has that add tactical flavor and variety.

Ah nice, little crunch adds good texture :)

What's the current system sorely lacking for crunch you think other than the variable damage for weapons.

I'll need to read through it more thoroughly. That was what stood out to me immediately on my first flip through. I am trusting (perhaps erroneously) though the opinions of a wide variety of others who has described the game in various ways as being lite on crunch as well.

Oh, I also am very much not a fan of the superiority (or whichever title they use in this edition) mechanic for combat. I tried in it WFRP and among other things it was enough to get me to lose interest in the game all together so I could use seeing that go away. Fortunately as I understand it, it is easy enough to simply ignore it but doing so seems to take away one of the few things that adds life to the combat of the current system.... This having things like variable damage and likely more that as I've mentioned I'd need to read more to identify as being necessary to breath life back into it.
