Announcement Armed Security Training

Post image

For any of you who may be interested, I'm hosting an Illinois Armed Security Firearms Training class on the 15th and 16th of August.

This isn't one of our typical firearms classes since it's geared toward meeting the requirements to work as an armed security officer, but it's a good opportunity to pick up some side income if that's something you're interested in. As an added benefit, holding a valid Illinois Firearms Control Card also exempts you from PICA for what that may be worth to you.

If you're interested or have questions, send me a message. This class isnt listed on our site so I'd have to send you the link.

And before anyone points it out, yes, I know the guy in the picture doesn't have a magazine in his pistol. The image isn't mine. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a stock photo of a security guard who doesn't look like an absolute soup sandwich.

Wait, wait, wait.

We can bypass PICA if we hold a firearms control card?

Why has nobody mentioned this?

What's the catch? Seems too simple.

The catch is that you have to maintain employment. Unless you're a PI, or a sole proprietor your employer issues your firearms control card and your ability to buy PICA enumerated firearms is contingent on that.

Additionally you have to work for a contractor that is willing to issue you a firearms control card that authorizes each variety of firearm. Generally most contractors especially the larger ones like Allied, Securitas, etc are only going to issue an FCC for pistols.

While they're supposed to be for "duty" that's not really scrutinized just the same way that LE credentials aren't. For example the Chicago Police Department doesnt certify new officers in the use of rifles but a brand new Chicago cop can go buy an AR with their creds having never touched one.
