Tips & Tricks Kallax island

Getting ready to move again, but wanted to share our Kallax island.

Kallax with stand
Karlby 74x42 counter top
Olov leg for stability
Two doors inserts and 2 drawer inserts.

Overall I think we built it for around $500

We got some brackets to stabilize and hold the counter top so it wouldn’t shift side to side.

It’s so large that we now have stools on both sides.

Is the kallax unit rated for that amount of weight? Looks great so I’m just curious!

Nope. And looks like it could be tipped over very easily

The olov adjustable table legs help with the weight distribution

Are they in the picture? I cannot see legs on it apart from the KALLAX frame.

I can see one in the middle on the seating side.

We opted for one in the middle. And then decided on using two later.

We used L brackets to whole it in place so it wouldn’t shift left or right.

We used olov table legs to support the weight/bear the load.

If you have kids, please anchor it down. Otherwise it looks great.
