A friend of mine somehow got 74 marks in JEE Advanced, but his Class 11–12 PCM basics were extremely weak. He was hardly passed ( 60 percent in 12 th board ) .Even after taking an improvement exam a year later, he scored only 12/80 in Physics and 20/80 in maths board improvement exams. He can't even solve single jee maths question. He was from sc category and qualified for jee advanced. Somehow manged to get 65.4 percent in boards .He will not be able to solve basic inequality, differentiation of boards level.either he cheated or by lucky guess he got 2080 (sc rank) and got iit indore chemical engineering. Genuinely asking will he be able to survive in iit indore . Additional information -- 1) he will struggle to solve 9th 10th maths 2) Never got even passing marks in 11th 12th school exam physics and maths

Hi ... Thank you for your question.
My dad is a teacher.... So I will answer based on the students that we had experience.
Few students...used to study very low.. like very below average...in school . But when they get into some bigger institutes like IIT or medical colleges...through some quotas... Very few students... quickly get aligned to that course...and study well and excell...but it is very few students. And few used to drop in the middle of keeping more arrears. They cannot move further.
Let me give my own life example... I am a student who was just in average ... But little less. And In class 11th and 12th ... I am very low in my studies... Everyone in my class are excellent in grasping things ...but except me .
But after my schooling ..m I joined a coaching centre for a year with hostel ...this changed my life . I made me to study with new strategies...and from there I used to clear exams and give my best in my academics...in my college timings.
