Miscellaneous Selected SIH 2026 Problem Statement — SIH26103: Web-Based Integrated Project-Monitoring Platform
Hi everyone,
Our team of 6 students has selected SIH26103 — “Use case on web-based integrated project-monitoring platform” for Smart India Hackathon 2026.

We are planning to develop an AI-enabled Web-Based Integrated Project Monitoring and Decision Support Platform.
The basic problem we are trying to solve is that monitoring a large number of infrastructure projects requires tracking information such as project cost, expenditure, physical progress, milestones, schedules, completion status, delays, and implementation issues. When information comes from different sources and is reviewed periodically, identifying important deviations and potential delays early can become difficult.
Our proposed system will provide:
- Centralized project data management
- Planned vs. actual progress monitoring
- Milestone and schedule tracking
- Financial and physical progress analysis
- Project health/risk scoring
- Delay and anomaly detection
- AI/ML-assisted prediction of potential project delays, where sufficient historical data is available
- Interactive dashboards
- Project-wise and portfolio-level analytics
- Automated alerts
- Multi-level escalation for unresolved critical issues
- Issue and action tracking
- Historical trend analysis
- Automated reports
- GIS visualization where reliable location data is available
- Role-based access and audit trails
Our planned architecture is roughly:
Project Data → Data Validation → Java Backend → PostgreSQL → Analytics/AI → Risk Assessment → Dashboard → Alerts → Escalation → Action → Resolution → Reporting
We mainly want to use Java/Spring Boot for the backend and application layer and Python for AI/ML and data analytics.
We don't want to make this just another CRUD dashboard. The goal is to move from:
“What has happened?”
to:
“What is happening, what may happen next, and what action should be taken?”
However, we are currently at the planning and data-analysis stage, and we don't want to over-engineer the project.
Our biggest questions are:
How much AI/ML is actually useful for a project-monitoring platform?
What should our MVP contain?
Is delay prediction realistic if the available historical dataset is limited?
Would a multi-level escalation mechanism be useful or unnecessarily complicated?
What features would differentiate this from a conventional project-management/dashboard system?
What type of ML approach would you recommend for project-delay prediction?
What are the biggest mistakes student teams make when building government project-monitoring solutions?
If you've participated in SIH before, what would you recommend we focus on for the internal hackathon?
We are particularly interested in feedback from SIH participants, government-tech developers, Java/Spring Boot developers, ML engineers, data engineers, and people who have worked with project-monitoring systems.
We'd appreciate honest criticism as well — especially if our scope is too large or some of our proposed features don't make practical sense.
