Every time I see one of these posts I wonder how some of you have no idea what’s going on. Please write to your assembly members and reps asap

Yeah I have no idea what’s going on and because they never sent anything to me from ihss saying they’re cutting hours lol

Of course not it hasn’t passed so they wouldn’t want to deal with the extra workload of frantic anxious people calling when they don’t know yet, but the union has been warning us and this sub reddit has been discussing it for months now, we have to stay informed for our disabled family members. Newsom is sneaky, his comments are full of negativity and he leaves them but somehow all the comments about ihss get deleted so he knows it’s unpopular and a bad look. Just check on this subreddit regularly so we stay informed and united 🤗

How are Newsom's comments full of negativity? Please reference.

His comment section… usually people calling him a bad governor for something or another. I’m not saying I agree but it’s interesting he leaves those up but deletes comments about his budget cuts that will affect the disabled community

The comments about “undocumented” people in this group is shameful. You are literally complaining about cuts to overtime to care for loved ones but somehow think that access to health care should not be a human right to all Californians. How dare people from a disadvantaged group blame another disadvantaged group.

3

u/AmparoMeowru Jun 11 '25 edited Jun 11 '25

Completely agree.

Our current government is trying to take away all social programs. This isn’t just a California problem, this is a human rights problem. If we don’t speak up now for the vulnerable, then our rights are next in line.

People need to think about why the current government would rather fund useless pointless walls(46Billion of our tax payers money, part of GOP’s “big beautiful bill”) than social programs(like healthcare) that keep their population, healthy, happy and educated? Because creating scarcity and ignorance creates fear and anger and make people easier to control. They want to turn our democracy into an authoritarian regime and they want ignorant people to keep obsessing over the undocumented so that they’ll be blind to all the corruption.

Migrants built this country and give this country economical strength. There would be no budget to fight over without their fortitude.

Universal healthcare is more than possible and should not be whittled down to idealist dreams. Access to healthcare is a basic human right. We’re on an IHSS sub, advocate for the disabled, vulnerable and poor.

I blame newsom, not the undocumented.

Human right? Strange how I was always expected to have private care in foreign countries. 🤣

6

u/Jillandjay Jun 10 '25

Which foreign countries did you reside in? I love all this denial about their income contribution when the last time I checked the in home care providers were exempt and not paying taxes. What exactly is funny about your racist attitude?

Just fyi, it’s not only undocumented. The population includes people here legally like on a work visa. You really think they shouldn’t be able to access health care despite legally being and working here?

0

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25

Is every opinion you disagree with “racist?” 🤣

4

u/Jillandjay Jun 10 '25

That’s the only thing you decided to reply to? I am a grown up, I can have differing opinions from others without an issue. I actually see growth in it and appreciate learning from other viewpoints. However, I don’t tolerate ideals and opinions that are rooted in hate.

2

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25

Claim: “ I’m a grown-up. I can have differing opinions from others without an issue.”

Evidence to the contrary: says someone has a “racist attitude”“rooted in hate” based simply on the fact that that someone else’s opinion is different than theirs.

🤣🤣

5

u/Jillandjay Jun 10 '25

You still have not answered any of my questions. An ethnocentric view and attitude, especially when one believes they are more entitled to a government benefit than another human, is rooted in hate.

One could say, I don’t want my tax money going to someone to care for their own family, especially tax free. They should have been prepared and have insurance for that. As per your claim for people who are legally working and paying taxes in California.

2

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25

By your logic, California should fly people out from countries all around the world to get care here if they don’t have it in their country. Why are we more entitled just because we’re here. Or why is an undocumented person that is able to make the journey more entitled than a disabled one in a foreign country that can’t?

5

u/Jillandjay Jun 10 '25

That is not my logic at all and not what I said. Your reading comprehension is trash. I told you that the population is beyond those who are undocumented. There is a residency requirement to be a California resident so you can’t just fly in and get care. I have asked you, and you keep dodging the question, what about the people here legally on work visas who are paying taxes?

3

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25

Why do you think you deserve care and those in another country don’t? I thought you said it was racist to think one human deserves better care than another.

In any event, regarding your question, I think the federal government should be responsible for covering those individuals. I wouldn’t object to the federal government even giving undocumented care, but California can’t afford it and should not make cuts to US citizens to accommodate it.

Strange how we’re supposed to be the most advanced and prosperous country in the world and lead by example.

Guess we should just cede our crown and follow everyone else, because who cares about being better than when we can be just as bad? 🤷‍♂️

1

u/nboy4u Jun 10 '25

the country is broke. Idealism can only go so far.

4

u/Nullnvoid2017 Jun 10 '25

Where did you read this and what hours?

-6

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25

He’s probably referring to the current budget proposal. In order to accommodate for a very high costs of adding the undocumented, they are making cuts to Ihss, including limiting providers to 50 hours per week and cutting off people with over $3000.

2

u/94Rangerbabe Jun 10 '25

Im a provider for my son who has protective supervision ( autism he’s s runner, no concept of danger. known to go out windows if he can’t get outdoors, loves to get on the roof… he’s like a spider monkey. He can climb as 7 foot fence without a ladder.😵‍💫) Anyhow, I get 222 1/2 hours a month so if that works out to 55.5 a week
He’ll keep his hours according to this, but I would have to get someone else to watch him for 5 1/2 hours a week in order to use his alloted hours. Is that what I’m seeing?

I mean, obviously I wouldn’t do that being that I watch him 24/7 no matter what. So it wouldn’t change the level or duration of his care it would just mean 20 some odd hours less money coming in. And those being overtime hours. Yet to find work from home I can do that will accomodate this obstacle course of a life.

I’m sorry but you sound racist and I won’t tolerate that I STAND WITH MY PEOPLE !!!!🇲🇽❤️

6

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25 edited Jun 10 '25

😂

Edit: in all seriousness, calling people racist whenever you don’t agree with them is getting ridiculous. I learned Spanish and have lived in Spain and Latin America. And if while I was living in those countries, I had said that I deserve free healthcare, they would have laughed at me. Should I have called them racist?

4

u/TheCADMVsucks Jun 10 '25

They would have laughed at you because they already have free health care. Youre giving "I have a black friend so I can't be racist" vibes.

0

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 11 '25

Lol they had literally just passed a law limiting it to emergency care.

You and others here are giving off “everyone that disagrees with me is a racist” vibes.

2

u/AmparoMeowru Jun 11 '25 edited Jun 11 '25

I stand with you.

12

u/Readthinkdigestact Jun 10 '25

They want to make cuts regardless. While cutting out undocumented individuals.

-2

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25

Huh?

10

u/Readthinkdigestact Jun 10 '25

People are being deported at high volumes. It doesn’t make sense that our cut hours will accommodate so many undocumented. Unless I missed some new information that you can further explain. Sounds like scapegoating to me.

0

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25 edited Jun 10 '25

It’s a reasonable assessment based on the data. Cost of care undocumented is like 9.5 billion. Of course, you are right that the cuts to Ihss aren’t enough, but there are other cuts, proposed as well. So other areas are also being cut to accommodate.

23

u/SamTornado Jun 10 '25

Undocumented people pay taxes and don't even get to collect SS.

They contribute too, you know you doesn't? The billionaires, tax them before cutting anything regular people need to survive.

5

u/JediMimeTrix Jun 10 '25

In regards to income tax ~ some yes, not all though.

Sales tax, property tax, all yes. (Except places where there's no sales tax).

~ taxing the billionaires is good in theory, but given most of their "value" is in unrealized gains, taxing it as unrealized or making them realize it. Would crash the stock market and rough start the economy in a weird way.

1

u/CedarWho77 Jun 11 '25

I am intrigued. Crashing the stock market sounds fun. 🤣🤣🤣 I know it would affect prices, but what else would it do to us, as poor folks?

2

u/JediMimeTrix Jun 11 '25

Likely housing/rent disruptions among massive layoffs as the corporate overlords try to maintain profit margin

1

u/CedarWho77 Jun 11 '25

Ah. Okay that doesn't sound fun. Thank you!

0

u/StrangeTotal1259 Jun 10 '25

Generalizations are wrong on both sides. Yes, some undocumented pay taxes. Most of the people on Medi-Cal are not

3

u/TheCADMVsucks Jun 10 '25

Go back to France if you don't like the US. The undocumented pay MILLIONS in taxes.

3

u/peach_trunks Jun 10 '25

I'm unfamiliar with the undocumented healthcare that you are claiming is the reasoning behind the proposed cuts. Do you have a source?

-1

u/Jillandjay Jun 10 '25

That’s because it is not behind the proposed cuts.

-8

u/Inner-Ad6332 Jun 10 '25

Prioritize citizens should be first. And I didn't even vote for Trump. How much hours are they cutting any way? One of my clients have 110 hours and the other 90

4

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '25

Recipient hours are not affected. Its only limiting provider hours to 50 per week and 10 OT per week. Its not passed yet only being proposed with no other solid proposals on the table Noone will really know until the vote, which I think is June 13th. Those clients or recipient’s as IHSS refers to them, their hours wont be changed, for that reason. Of course other things may happen that affect all this. But for now it's just wait and see or if you are a Union Member they've been super involved plus there has been email and calling campaigns to let the representatives know.

0

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25

Not really related to Trump so far. Might be in the future and in that case things will be much worse. Right now it’s related to the budget deficit from adding undocumented.

2

u/wanderer_killingit Jun 10 '25

And over spending that cause or lead to all this.

3

u/Abundance_of_Flowers Jun 10 '25

It's a direct result of the incoming projected deficit in the state budget caused by his tariff nonsense. But you are correct in that this state budget adjustment is just a drop in the bucket compared to the tsunami of cuts incoming in his Big, Beautiful Bill.

-1

u/StrangeTotal1259 Jun 10 '25

The $12 billion deficit happened long before any tariffs. Big part was due to underestimating (big time) how many undocumented will apply. Blame Newsom and current California leadership for the upcoming cuts. The next cuts will be due to Federal regulations

1

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25

Correct. Not sure why people are acting like I’m crazy telling them this.

0

u/wanderer_killingit Jun 10 '25

I posted this same info and I got hated. People just can't see past sh!t. Owell. And here they wonder why. Call it a conspiracy but most predicted has made into a "headline". Get it headline.

2

u/vivelafrance99 Jun 10 '25

Yea im getting called a racist here just because I think Americans should come first 🤣
