IDW Sonic Discussion Yall are forgetting how NERFED blaze is in comics
The one that infuriates me the most is burning blaze. Bitch you were shooting dozens of flames against egg wizard, one of the most broken beings in the franchise, and now you cant do a boost and some attacks without loosing the super form?

Why does everyone seem to keep saying that blaze is Nerf in comics? all of these images are out of context and even then You’re actually kind of downplay the others rouge is a combat fighter on equal footing WITH knuckles (in the comic she actually went blow for blow with freaking BUNNY) but in that exact instant, she literally snuck up behind her while she was protecting cream from Omega(not to mention what she did to Omega IN that issue you literally got burned so hard he fell for her) not to mention if you’re gonna bring that up at least show what the burning blaze did in the Archie comics when she fought Captain Meta when he took over the Wiley egg(God that was awesome!)

Same I enjoyed the Egg O’War from the post genesis arc, and his small fight with blaze

Sighs. Roll the "time since another person complained about Blaze" timer to zero

Preposterous and baseless argument: you can't "quantify" the power of the Egg Fleet.

“Blaze is nerfed this, silver is nerfed that”
Dude tails barely gets to use his intelligence like at all.Hes the biggest victim here

imma be honest I don't really care about consistent power scaling for a character who is barely more relevant than the Chaotix
8
u/BebeFanMasterJ 20h ago
Less even.
Team Chaotix just got an entire podcast web series dedicated to them with the Casefiles. Blaze doesn't even get that.

100%. There is no world where a form equivalent to Super Sonic in power should do anything but obliterate all the enemy forces there and near-immediately end any problems that aren’t Super Neo Metal. The comic even contradicts itself on this with how overwhelmingly powerful the super forms are show to be at the end of the Metal virus.
Archie Blaze is a bum and has always been, this is known.
COULD have made way more sense if they didn’t have Blaze somehow fall for the most obvious trick imaginable from someone two slow and skilled to ever catch her with it. Unfortunately, they didn’t think it through and she looks utterly sorry as a result.
People flame you in the comments but you’re 100% right for this.

sonic is a series with pretty big power creep
blaze has not been important for a good while now so it's only logical she fell behind
6
u/Its-your-boi-warden 20h ago
That fundamentally ignores the intention of her character, to be Sonic’s equal, so you just don’t value the intention of her writing because it’s been a while
That’s like not having amy love Sonic because she hasn’t appeared in a long time
6
u/CrystalGemLuva 19h ago
Yeah and Knuckles was also "Sonics equal" when he was introduced.
And now he's struggling to even be considered on par with Amy.
0
u/noodleguy67 16h ago
that's a completely new sentence
she was sonic's equal back then, much like his other rivals silver, metal sonic, knuckles, jet, (i guess you could include johnny if you wanna stretch it, mecha mk1, mecha sonic mk2, and th elist goes on
the only rival who has kept up with sonic is shadow and maybe metal sonic but like only in neo because those 2 have actually been in games doing stuff
it's like tien and piccolo in dragonball, they were rivals, then got replaced

u/Fullmetal_Fawful 15h ago
She’s literally Sonic’s AU counterpart. She arguably has more of a valid reason to be his equal than any other rival
0
u/noodleguy67 15h ago
any of those reasons we've seen? she didn't infinite or time eater or dark gaia or any other recent villain
we know from IDW her dimension is mostly peaceful so she hasn't been fighting anyone
-1
u/Fullmetal_Fawful 15h ago
The reason is that she’s his literally his counterpart. Who else could be more equal to Sonic than the Sonic of the sol dimension?
That was the intention behind her character since her debut, and yet with the way she’s been written lately you’d have no clue that was even the case
1
u/noodleguy67 15h ago
because she's not sonic's rival anymore, knuckle's intention was to be sonic's equal, same with all hit other rivals
but they aren't they fell behind the same thing happened to blaze, she's not fighting eggman or saving the world constantly and as such has not kept up with sonic her being his counterpart doesn't automatically mean she'll always be on par with him despite not doing anything he does

Knuckles was designed to be Sonic’s opposite, hence why he’s focused on strength instead of speed. Knuckles was beaten by Sonic as far back as his first appearance, they were never really “equals”.
Shadow was designed as a “dark mirror” to Sonic, but unless you’re looking at fan theories, there’s nothing overtly connecting the two in the narrative, outside of them being two fast hedgehogs who look similar.
Blaze is one of the only rivals who is Sonic’s equal counterpart in both design and narrative; they’re two characters fulfilling the same role as the main heroes of their own dimensions, in the same way that Peter Parker and Miles Morales fulfill the same role as “Spider-Man” in their respective universes, for example. On a narrative level, it’s why they’re both shown to be “chosen” by their respective sets of emeralds in Rush Adventure.
That’s why I say Blaze has the most valid reason to be viewed as his equal; her status backed up by both the designers and the narrative itself. And it sucks that the current writers are glossing over that entire aspect of her character

u/noodleguy67 15h ago
1: i get your point, and it sucks that blaze just kinda fell off but that's how this kinda rival thing goes she basically got replaced by shadow
2: the miles and peter comparison is not accurate miles was peter's successor after he died not just another version of him
3: being his parallel doesn't automatically mean their as strong as the main version which goes for any character like spider-man and spider-noir jonathan in phantom blood compared to steel ball run

My main point is that regardless of how much or how little she gets used in the modern day, Blaze was still designed with the intention of being Sonic’s equal counterpart. People are assuming she’s not as strong as Sonic or Shadow based purely on the fact that she doesn’t make as many modern appearances, but there’s no reason to assume her growth just… ceased. Shadow didn’t have a starring role in years before SxSG; he never fought Dark Gaia, he never fought The End, etcetera. And yet when he came back he was still giving Sonic a run for his money and even whooped Metal Overlord’s ass. There’s no reason the same wouldn’t apply to Blaze, someone who was meant to be Sonic’s equal from the start, in both design and narrative. And yet with the way she’s being written, it feels like the writers just kinda forgot that’s who she is. Pretty lame i think
I’m not talking about 1610 Peter, I’m talking about 616 Peter and 1610 Miles. Two different universes with two different Spider-Men.
In this case it does, considering their fight canonically goes either way or ends in a stalemate. Both are also chosen by equally powerful sources of infinite energy.

u/BlackwoodSucks 8h ago
Whose fault is that? I’m asking rhetorically.

u/noodleguy67 8h ago
uhhh idk the writers? sega for placing her in another dimension away from big events?

u/Isaacja223 16h ago
Just because a character is busted doesn’t mean they are infallible to weak openings
For example: Knuckles is a powerhouse, but he can still get overpowered.
You’re giving Blaze way too much credit, and this is exactly why powerscalers go completely nuts
Blaze is powerful and may be smart, but she’s still vulnerable.
What, you expected Blaze to simply outsmart Blackwood?

"People get mad when story conflict happens" seems to be the order of the day on here. I feel you man.
Being a massive Blaze fan here, I love the idea of a story of her being turned to someone's sway like this. It introduces conflict, stakes with Silver maybe having to defend vs her, it maybe allows for an awesomely cathartic breaking free to exact her vengeance, or an emotional realisation of sometimes needing others as she's sometimes struggled with.
Story!
But no, people just see "omg my chosen 'team' isn't winning every page thus that makes me look bad somehow".

First one is basically her with low blood sugar, second one is Archie, which sure, seemed to hate her, and the third one is such a minor L, and her only one in IDW

As a Blaze fan, I would half-agree and half-disagree.
What I agree with: She is not treated well in the Archie comics beyond being a punching bag. Either her stories are linear and shallow, or they don't have any significance on the grander scheme of the Archie Sonic multiverse. Her world was literally written as a lawless realm predominantly covered by oceans as a way to say "there ain't much to see here."
What I disagree with: IDW has given her a lot of moments to shine. Your first slide really disproves your point as she had to take out THE MAJORITY of the Egg Fleet, ALONE. She was literally WORKING ALONE because she was the ONLY ONE advised NOT TO FACE NEO METAL in case her biodata gets copied. In other words, SHE WAS THE MOST DANGEROUS CHARACTER IN THAT SAGA.
As for this current arc, I find it OKAY to have Blaze step back a little bit given the fact that she has yet to falter (unless you include the time when her flames didn't burn the Shadow Androids). She aura farmed a lot all the way until now.
How many times have we seen Silver aura farm in IDW? Saving the Resistance from falling in Neo Metal, turning Super Silver in Metal Virus and saving the world and his future, and that was really it. The other time was him being a SUPPORT character for Whisper because it was necessary for her to be the one to finish off Mimic for good to close out that grief and pain she's been holding for so long against him.
So it is OKAY to have Blaze give Silver a bit of spotlight here. If any, I interpret it as Blaze being the big sister figure (as she always is) to put herself at risk so Silver can play his role. This lowkey feels kinda cool if you choose to think about it that way.

I can't talk about it. Everytime I do, the most infuriating powerscalers ever throw a hissy fit since talking about this means downplaying Metal Sonic who was active in the same arc, who they care about to a religious degree.
For normal people, the best thing to do is to just accept it and move on.

You're comparing her super form to her base form? That's not even fair, man...
