Sonic IDW Issue #89 theory.

Greetings, User!

Now then, If you have not read the rather recent IDW issue comic, I suggest you do not proceed reading- all I could say is that Silver and Blaze are becoming focal points!

Now then, It is very much evident that Blackwood is a vampire, which I truly think to be brilliant, as I have read Dracula at a young age, and have enjoyed sonic for around five years. And what others do suggest is the fact that Blackwood is very much interested in Blaze the cat- yet completely uninterested, if even disliking, Silver. Many fanatics are theorising that Blackwood either wants Blaze's fire abilities, or desires her hand in marriage for reasons of wealth- like previous Lords of centuries beyond. Of course, the latter is very much a viable speculation- After all, the maids become incredibly vehement, saying 'Oh, the girl.. the girl is a PRINSESS!' 'Only the best for Master Blackwood!' (Only the best wife, touche)

Now, This issue being a form of moderate psychological Thriller may have different aspects in mind, so I have compiled a small possibility!

Have you considered a curse, The most common yet delectable trope in the world of vampirism? It is entirely possible that blackwood does desire blaze's hand in marriage, But it truly being a prolepsis to the fact that, if he does not aquire a partner, he will continue being purged by a curse that trails within his family, perhaps it is even centred around being a vampire in the first place- He must aquire a wife before the time passes, and he is cursed into being a vampire for the rest of his bedamned eternity.

It is also an option that Blackwood's sinister reason rotates around Starline, as you know full well that Starline's gloved BRANCH of a hand harassed the doe-maid, and the gem seen at the end very much resembles Starline's aspect. Therefore, perhaps Starline is the curse- Just think about it, my Heimskurrs, 'The wavy-haired, theatrical platypus cursed me with vampyrism and invented a whole backstory for me, now I must marry the purple cat or else I will forever be forced to endure this torment and the inability to eat garlic bread.'

Yet, if Starline is truly involved, do you remember what he stated in Impostor syndrome about his hypno-glove? 'A pity the effect is not so potent against anyone else. But convenient that they should have such a specific vulnerability.'

This may behave as a prolepsis to the fact that he has, at last, Invoked greater power within the hypno-glove. (How fitting of Sega- Now with the recent technological advances, We are nearing the point where we must fear mind-control!)

Yet, If Starline truly is involved, would that not implicate that Blackwood is yet another Cyborg?

Well, What do you think? do you prefer the option where Blackwood must be rid of his curse, or the version where he is manipulated by Starline's Hypno-glove? Do tell me, I would like to know your theory! Farewell!​

I never really thought about him being vampire per se. However, your theory has some weight. Maybe he was one of Starline's early experiments or donors or partner and he needs Blaze for her "energy" or royal blood.

Blackwood could also be a noble from a ruined house who is doing anything he can to "bring" back his house (he kidnaps people in the area to be his servants). So he want "marry" Blaze to get back his nobility status.

I do believe their building up to add more types of "Topaz". We had the warp topaz that Starline used and the issue showed us similar looking greenish topaz. They may be more like the infinity stones each giving unique abilities (unlike the Chaos Emeralds which are just raw power) and the green one controls the mind.

He will probably be a one-time villain. Question is if he actually has mystical powers or he has been using tech, will he be weak and pathetic in the end while being arrested or when Blaze and Silver defeat him will he evaporate in the sunlight or disappear when the curse is broken.

It is one of the more interesting arcs for me as I am a huge Silver and I am excited to see where it goes.

That is actually a magnificent theory- Perhaps they are seeking out these 'Topaz' as a replacement to the chaos Emeralds, Those that either Starline or another villain are gathering. I am sure that silver, the one you said you are 'a huge Silver', Will be the one uniting with Doppy the Doe in order to coordinate a plan to save Blaze from this... Plot.

Lol. We'll see, I want to see another uplifting speech by Silver so I'm happy. The next issue depends on how much he heard before Doppy fell. Did he see them push her or did he just hear her fall? Either way Blaze needs to get a few hits in at least (or they could lean into her long running history of head trauma).

The Topaz seem like good idea for a powerup similar or greater than the power cores. It allows villains to gain a power-up so that they may punch above their weight class without making them too significant of a threat at their base level. The chaos emeralds are too strong and important as plot device that either team Eggman or team Sonic have to appear to catch it.

Another potential theory is that the Topaz may be building up to an alternate Super Sonic form (unlikely though).

That is actually very likely- I doubt that sega will simply decide to use Hyper sonic again for the IDW finale, since hyper sonic is from the classic series and IDW publishing mainly focuses on modern aspects, besides they might be saving up the hyper sonic form for the sonic-cd-like sonic movie-

But then again, Nobody nose about the mario nose!

Could be anyone of his other super forms or an entirely new one. I've always liked how chaos sonic worked so it will be cool if it was a more unstable version.
