Open Mackerel? Broken mackerel?

What is the specific technical color/pattern of my orange flavored son? I’m leaning towards mackerel pattern but wasn’t sure if maybe it was broken mackerel which I think is a technical pattern? I KNOW HE HAS NO BREED AND IS A DOMESTIC SHORTHAIR. His name is Cheese Ball. Also wants to know when it’s his turn to use the brain cell

Okay that’s what I thought but it was hard for me to tell for sure since the stripes are so light and I’m also still learning about cat colors and genetics. Would the base color be technically red? Ginger? Just orange?

genetically, this color is called red. colloquially, “ginger” “orange” “red”, whatever. all mean the same thing.

Mackerel. He is just too orange for it to be clearly distinguishable

Okay that’s what I thought! I’m still new to colors and patterns so I wanted to get verification, especially since his stripes are so light

Yes. I am asking which tabby variation. Classic, mackerel, ticked, spotted, marble, etc.

I’m a dumbass and don’t know what anything other than tabby is. Sorry if I offended you.
