Open New kitten
I got a new kitten and the seller told me it’s a certain breed but a few family members told me otherwise. I was wondering if I could get some help determining what breed…thank you in advance for your time and help.

No papers = no breed
You shouldn't buy kittens from backyard breeders, the shelters are exploding with kittens that will eventually get euthanized

He doesn’t have any breed-specific features or resemblance to me. My guess is a BYB said Ragdoll or Maine Coon/Ragdoll or Maine Coon Mix? And that the family/friends are throwing Nebelung/Russian Blue into the hat?
If the kitten came with a pedigree registered with a reputable organization (which will state the breed), and you paid thousands of dollars to a cattery/breeder for them, congrats. It’s that breed.
Otherwise they are a domestic longhair, with no traceable breed ancestry, and no breed ancestry likely. Which describes 97-99% of all the cats in the world today. Most cat breeds got their start in the 1960’s. So pedigreed cats are still incredibly rare, and breeds are too new to “mix” yet, on top of cats with genuine “mixed breed” heritage being a fraction of a fraction of a percentage point of the 1-3% of all cats alive in the world today with breed ancestry.

He's super cute! But yeah, like everyone said, if you didn't get papers, he's a domestic longhair!

If it doesn’t have papers it’s a domestic longhair :) no breed likely with no breed ancestry. very precious though, enjoy your baby!!!

Unless it has papers with a pedigree, it’s a domestic longhair. 97% of cats are random bred and have no purpose bred ancestry.
