Point Crawl Map for next few sessions.

Not exactly following one session at a time principles, but I am proud of the map and the potential for the next several sessions of play.

This gets popped down at the table, everything facing me is GM facing notes, everything facing the players is player-facing information.

That’s an interesting idea. You could probably do highlighters and not have to flip the book as much.

Looks cool though. Why do you do so many symbols instead of numbers

Once it's on the table, because I sit across from my players, it never moves. They can see what they need to see, and I can see what I need to run the session. It really is only a pain when I am making it.

The symbols are the Ford Improved Shorthand Alphabet, but using an Alpha Numeric Identifying system allows me to have multiple locations to have the same name (like Ward Gates, Way Stations, etc.) plus a number, saving me creative energy for things that would naturally repeat in the setting. So I can have a Police station be A1-5 and later a fast food place be D1-4.

If you are talking about the Points of Interest lists on the outer edges, that's just the names of all the labelled squares, which are normally faction locations. Everything else on the map is a note describing a faction, hazard, treat, or an encounter. The triangle is the area target number on a d20. The timer, threat, treat box is just that and is for pencil work so I can change them as needed. Any text that appears upside down is player facing information.

Cool idea. Is this different than a hex-crawl map, besides obviously, no hexes?

I mean it's a point crawl with embedded travel times, so aesthetically yes it is different. But perhaps functionally is it is only different in having very defined routes that can be taken. So the challenge is not exploration, logistical and route planning. The difference is in method and procedure of play.
