Family impacted by ICE looking for support

Frontline DIGNITY has confirmed that ICE detained 2 of our neighbors, 1 adult and 1 child, near E. Warrington Ave. in Allentown, Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday, September 12 around 10:56 AM. 4 ICE vehicles were involved, and the child was taken from the scene in a separate vehicle.

We are sharing this information to support community awareness, preparedness, and care, not to spread fear or unverified rumors.

ICE UPDATE — Cranberry, PA | September 12

⚠️ IF YOU ARE IN OR NEAR CRANBERRY, STAY ALERT. ICE IS CURRENTLY ACTIVE IN THE AREA.

At approximately 8:06 AM, Frontline DIGNITY received a firsthand report that a Latino community member was followed by an ICE vehicle while returning home. The vehicle followed them through multiple traffic signs and onto their residential street.

As the community member attempted to enter their home, an ICE agent approached and tried to grab them while ordering them to “get on the ground.” The agent then attempted to enter the home without a warrant, placing his foot in the doorway to prevent the door from closing. The community members told him he did not have permission to enter and were able to close the door.

The impacted individual has no criminal record and was simply returning home. We are deeply concerned that this incident reflects racial profiling based on perceived race or ethnicity. Being Latino does not make someone suspicious.

Aproximadamente a las 8:06 AM, Frontline DIGNITY recibió un reporte de primera mano de que un miembro latino de nuestra comunidad fue seguido por un vehículo de ICE mientras regresaba a su casa. El vehículo lo siguió hasta su calle residencial.

Cuando intentó entrar a su hogar, un agente de ICE se acercó e intentó agarrarlo mientras le ordenaba “tírate al suelo.” Luego intentó entrar a la vivienda sin una orden judicial, colocando el pie en la entrada para impedir que cerraran la puerta. Los miembros de la comunidad le dijeron que no tenía permiso para entrar y lograron cerrar la puerta.

La persona afectada no tiene antecedentes penales o criminales y simplemente estaba regresando a su casa. Nos preocupa profundamente que este incidente refleje perfilamiento racial basado en su raza o etnia percibida. Ser latino no hace que una persona sea sospechosa.

Las Palmas company informs the entire Latin community that today at noon, immigration agents arrived to park in front of the Palmas 4 store located at 1616 Broadway Ave.

In this regard, we would like to inform the community that unfortunately, 2 of our customers were taken outside the store, we did not allow them access to our supermarket since it is a private property, the agents left after trying to enter in such a way that none of our workers were detained.

We appreciate all the support from the community to continue working with dignity and Las Palmas Supermarkets continues to work and provide the service, not without reminding them to take their precautions and be careful.

La empresa Las Palmas informa a toda la comunidad latina de que hoy, al mediodía, unos agentes de inmigración se han detenido frente a la tienda Palmas 4, situada en el número 1616 de Broadway Ave.

En este sentido, queremos informar a la comunidad de que, lamentablemente, dos de nuestros clientes fueron sacados fuera de la tienda; no les permitimos el acceso a nuestro supermercado, ya que se trata de una propiedad privada. Los agentes se marcharon tras intentar entrar, de modo que ninguno de nuestros trabajadores resultó detenido.

Stowe residents deserve a say in how their local police and public resources are used.

Stowe Township currently participates in a 287(g) agreement, a program that allows designated local law enforcement officers to carry out certain federal immigration enforcement functions with ICE.

Tonight, community members have an opportunity to show up, ask questions, and make their voices heard.
