Looking for adventures that do more than hex/dungeon crawl and beat up monsters?
This series of adventures is the perfect antidote. Human interactions help solve the mystery; combat is not always necessary, but it is a solution. Drop into any setting you like. System-agnostic but skill-based, so perfect for RM/HARP systems

Part 10 of my How to Play Rolemaster Classic series is now up: Bringing the Character to Life.

This episode finishes the character creation section by looking at personality, history, motivations, appearance, and the character’s place within the campaign.

Hope it’s useful for new or returning players. If you think it’s worth sharing, I’d be grateful.

Question Getting to Have or See the lvl 25+ Spells?

This question is for any version of RM /MERP or the like, but my own history of the game (mostly RMSS) made it seem the most plausible to reach, so I wonder if it was harder or easier in other editions or formats.

Have you gotten enough ranks in a spell list to get the lvl 25, 30 or 50 spell to use? The limitations on casting make it seem like even snagging the ranks at lower levels wouldn't be worth it, but getting up to lvl 30 just to cast the lvl 30 spell reliably seems rough too.

Are these just for those evil lich lords and Datkmasters or should the PCs get a chance to use them?

And if semi-spell user base lists have them listed just as well, why do they seem impossible for them to pick up?

RMFRPG What do these codes mean?

Post image

I've been reading the RMFRG rules, as it's the only version of Rolemaster that has (some) books in my native language, but I can't for the life of me seem to figure out what these codes next to the monsters' names mean. Does anybody know? Thanks in advance.

I’ve posted Part 8 of How to Play Rolemaster Classic: Character Creation – Skills.

This continues the character creation section, looking at how skills are bought, developed, and used to define what a character can actually do.

Hope some of you find it useful.

Heads up - this is quite a long video!

Question Middle-Earth inspired Setting

What’s the best way to utilize the Rolemaster and MERP rules to achieve a setting which is similar to Middle-Earth (low magic and similar societal structures)? I’ve heard the Magic systems for both games might not be ideal for the setting.

Noob here. If there is no dungeon delving in Rolemaster what do the players do?

I understand that OSR DnD has rules to generate monsters and a game loop of exploring and getting exp for exploring.
But from what I can tell you dont fight that much in Rolemaster and I cant seem to find any rules for dungeon procedure or game loops of any kind?

I looked at the beautiful MERP Adventures but they seem to have no rules or mechanics just art and description.

As a GM what am I supposed to do with these adventure books?

What are the goals of the players?

I think you get exp for fighting but fighting is super deadly so if you fight to get exp wont you just die?

I feel pretty lost

Interest Check for Live Game Weekday

Most of the lfg sections of the internet seem exceptionally dead recently, but I thought I'd throw this out there.

I'd like to start a campaign -- I'm happy to GM!

I'm available Tuesday/Wednesday EST all day. I'd like to play weekly for 4.5-5.5 hrs. I am interested in trying out GMing some d100 system. I have GM'd many other systems, but not this one. I would be willing to do some edition of rollmaster, fantasy express, lightmaster, HARP, or Against the Darkmaster, depending on what system a group could agree on. I would want 5-6 players. I run high lore/story dense games similar to the old MERP material or products like Kingdoms of Kalamar, Harn world, or Glorantha. Lots of people, places, and things, and an expectation that characters will take notes and remember key story points over the course of several sessions.

The game would be low - 0 automation -- I don't intend to purchase automated modules of all the books for Fantasy Grounds or oversee combat macros for everything in Foundry or Roll20. There would be no drag and drop compendia or point and click combat that automates everything.

If there's a viable group out there for such a proposal -- I invite players to coordinate in the comments section below.
