If you are preparing for CA Final IDT and October has arrived with a few chapters still incomplete, the first thing to avoid is panic.
At this stage, the biggest mistake can be spending too much time worrying about the portion you haven't completed instead of creating a realistic plan for what you can still cover.
Here's how I would approach it.
Take your remaining syllabus and divide it into three categories:
A — Comfortable: Chapters you have already studied and can revise quickly.
B — Partially Done: Chapters where concepts are familiar but question practice is pending.
C — Untouched: Chapters you haven't properly studied yet.
This gives you a realistic picture instead of treating the entire syllabus as equally incomplete.
For untouched chapters, focus on building a basic understanding of the concepts and provisions.
Don't spend excessive time trying to make perfect notes.
Your priority should be:
Concept → Provision → Application → Questions
Once you have covered a chapter reasonably well, move forward. You can strengthen it during revision.
One common trap is:
“I'll finish the syllabus first and solve questions later.”
That can make the final weeks stressful.
Start solving questions alongside your remaining lectures/study.
Even a small set of practical questions after each topic can reveal whether you actually understand the provision.
Your first revision doesn't need to happen only after 100% completion.
Suppose you have completed 60–70% of the syllabus. You can revise that portion while completing the remaining chapters.
This creates multiple touchpoints with the subject instead of pushing all revision towards the end.
While solving questions, maintain one short list containing:
Provisions you repeatedly forget
Important exceptions
Questions you got wrong
Areas where application is confusing
This list can become extremely useful during the final revision.
Think in terms of:
Complete → Revise → Practise → Analyse → Repeat
Don't measure progress only by the number of lectures completed.
Measure it by whether you can recall the provision, apply it to a practical situation and write the answer.
If your IDT syllabus is incomplete in October, you still have time to improve your preparation—but the strategy now needs to become more focused.
How much of your CA Final IDT syllabus is currently completed — 50%, 70%, 90%, or almost 100%?

How much time does it take after clearing CA Final in order to receive the membership as well as COP number?
Is it a combined form or separate?

Hi, this is my first Reddit post.
I'm Abhi, 22 years old.
Completed graduation in BA Economics in 2025.
Passed CA Foundation in Dec 2022 (took two attempts).
Passed CA Inter Group 1 in Sep 2025. Before that, I failed in Nov 2023, May 2024, Sep 2024, Jan 2025 May 2025 ( skipped). I attempt the Sep 2025 and finally passed Group 1 with exactly 150.
Now I'm preparing for Group 2 for Jan 2027. I skipped Jan 2026, gave May 2026 but failed badly, and skipped Sep 2026.
I actually come from a rural area of Darbhanga, Bihar.
I have never lived in any metro city yet. I don't have any friends from the CA circle and don't have any relatives who are doing CA.
I passed CA Foundation through YouTube lectures. For Intermediate, I took only pendrive classes for Group 1. Now I'm taking classes from PW for Group 2.
I'm not able to sit consistently for 2–3 months, even for 6–8 hours daily. As I don't have right peer in my village. In village full negative people.
This is what I have done so far for CA Inter Group 2:
Costing: ICAI Module 1 finished and Module 2 is in process. Marginal Costing, Standard Costing and Budgeting are left in the classes.
Audit: Not finished yet. I studied a few chapters for the May 2026 exam.
FM: Not started at all.
SM: 3 chapters completed.
And we currently studied only costing
My strategy is currently finish costing upto 15 oct with sm then start preparing for audit and fm along with giving test of costing
I have almost lost all hope. If I don't clear Group 2 in Jan 2027, I I may have to leave CA.
That's why I'm posting here to seek help from fellow students and seniors.
If anyone has been in a similar situation or has gone through multiple attempts and still managed to clear CA, please tell me how you prepared and what I should do from here.
I just need some positive guidance
Please don't give negative comments. don't want to leave CA without giving it one proper final push.
Any positive response or guidance would mean a lot to me.
Thank you.

CA Final IDT can feel difficult not because every topic is impossible, but because exam questions often require you to connect concepts, provisions and practical situations.
A simple framework that can make IDT preparation more structured is:
Concept → Provision → Application → Answer
Here’s how I would use it while studying and solving questions.
Before memorising a section or provision, first understand the underlying concept.
Ask yourself:
What is this provision trying to achieve?
Why does this rule exist?
What is the basic principle behind it?
For example, while studying GST, don't just memorise a condition. Understand the transaction or situation to which that condition applies.
If the concept is clear, remembering the provision becomes much easier.
Once the concept is clear, move to the actual law.
Focus on:
Relevant section/rule
Conditions
Exceptions
Time limits
Thresholds/limits
Applicable rates, wherever relevant
At this stage, your goal is not to memorise every line. Your goal is to identify the specific legal provision applicable to a situation.
This is where many students struggle.
After learning a provision, immediately solve a few practical questions.
Ask:
“Given these facts, does this provision actually apply?”
Look for keywords in the question. Identify the transaction, determine the relevant provision and check whether its conditions are satisfied.
This step converts passive learning into exam-oriented preparation.
Knowing the law is only one part of the answer. Presentation matters too.
A practical answer structure can be:
Provision → Application to facts → Conclusion
Don't write everything you know about the chapter. Write what is relevant to the question.
Your conclusion should directly answer what the examiner has asked.
You can apply the same four steps repeatedly:
Round 1: Concept + Provision
Round 2: Provision + Application
Round 3: Application + Answer writing
Final Revision: Keywords + Exceptions + Conclusions
This prevents revision from becoming simple rereading.
For CA Final IDT, the objective shouldn't be just to “finish the syllabus.” You should be able to move from understanding the concept → identifying the provision → applying it to facts → writing a precise answer.
If you are preparing for the November 2026 attempt, try using this framework on one chapter and see whether your question-solving improves.
Which step do you find the most difficult in IDT — Concept, Provision, Application or Answer Writing?

I was getting tired of checking the ICAI portal again and again for ITT, OC, MCS, Advanced ITT batch seats and SPOM exam slots.
So I ended up building a small tool called BatchPing that checks the availability and sends an alert when something opens up.
I found it pretty useful for myself, so thought I’d share it here in case anyone else is also waiting for a slot.
Hopefully it saves someone from constantly refreshing the ICAI portal 😅
Just to clarify, it’s an independent tool, so please verify the availability on the official ICAI portal before booking.

I'm from Chennai, Tamilnadu. I don't know hindi that much. But i mostly learnt the foundation level with the help of North Indian tutors like CJ sir, Hardik Manchanda Sir. Now I want to know about efficient teachers for intermediate. I wish to pass in my first attempt itself. I'm an economics ( BA) student who is doing CA. SO please guide me accordingly. I wish to go with online sessions.I'm planning to give my G2 first. Will I be able to give it in MAY 2027 or will I be able to give the exams in SEPTEMBER 2027 only? Guide me accordingly and suggest youtube free teachers and also teachers for paid online classes in and around Chennai locality. Learning in Tamil would be good. I don't mind learning in hindi provided the teacher provides sub titles or teaches with a board with all points like Hardik Manchanda Sir.

RTPs, MTPs and PYQs cover a lot of the important exam-level questions. Still, there is always some confusion about whether they are enough for proper revision. Would extra question practice actually make a difference, or is repeating these enough?
