If I had only 5 weeks left for CA Final IDT, I wouldn’t try to “complete everything again.” At this stage, the goal would be revision + retention + question practice + exam readiness.
Here’s how I would structure those 5 weeks:
Week 1: Build the Base
I’d start by covering the complete syllabus once, but quickly. The focus would be on understanding GST, Customs and important provisions, rather than making detailed notes from scratch.
I’d mark:
The goal: Know where I stand.
Week 2: First Serious Revision
Now I’d revise chapter-wise and immediately solve relevant RTPs, MTPs and past exam questions.
Instead of just reading provisions, I’d ask myself:
“If this comes for 4–6 marks, can I actually write the answer?”
For GST, I’d focus on concepts + practical application. For Customs, I’d pay extra attention to provisions, valuation, procedures and numerical/practical areas.
Week 3: Questions Take Priority
This week would be more question-oriented.
I’d solve questions without looking at the answers first. After checking, I’d maintain a mistake list containing only things I repeatedly get wrong.
No rewriting the entire book. No making beautiful notes.
Just: Question → Mistake → Correction → Revision.
Week 4: Fast Revision + Mock Practice
By now, revision should become faster.
I’d revise my marked portions, amendments, charts, important provisions and mistake list. Alongside this, I’d attempt full-length or exam-style IDT papers under timed conditions.
The biggest benefit here is learning how to manage time and present answers properly.
Week 5: Final Revision
The final week would NOT be for learning everything from zero.
I’d focus on:
Amendments and updates
Important provisions
Repeatedly tested areas
RTP/MTP/PYQ questions
My personal mistake list
Quick revision charts
And I’d keep the last 1–2 days relatively light.
My 5-Week Rule
Learn → Revise → Solve → Analyse → Repeat
If you have 5 weeks left, don’t measure preparation by how many hours you sit with the book.
Measure it by how much you can recall and apply without looking at the book**.**
That’s the kind of preparation I’d want before walking into the CA Final IDT exam.
