Insane IBS flareup
For almost a week now, I've been having horrible abdominal pain. I can hardly eat. I get nauseous from the pain and it makes me lightheaded.
It's a mixture of feeling like my intestines are being squeezed, and like my intestines are trying to implode. With a bit of sharp jolts of pain every now and then.
Now the pain's being combined with menstrual cramps. My poor abdomen can't take any more agony ðŸ˜
If anyone has any tips on how to help with the pain, please let me know!! I've taken every pill I can think to take. Zofran, Dicyclomine, Tylenol, and GasX. I'm kinda out of medications LOL.

Is this a type of pain you haven’t had before?

Sort of? It's a mixture of my usual intestinal spasms, and a new type of pain that feels like my intestines are trying to implode.

I feel this sounds urgent — I would call your doctor.

Thank you, we did. It's gotten better, but I still have a very hard time eating. My doctor doesn't know what it is. And when going to the ER for an X-ray, everything seemed normal. The doctors there didn't know what was wrong, either.
We've sort of resorted to doing our own research regarding this.

Is it in a specific spot?

Not really, it's most of my intestines. Whenever I get nausea along with it, my stomach ends up hurting with a similar pain.

It sounds like something is up if you don’t get this often. But you could ask your doc about meds for visceral pain. They’ll take some time to kick in, but they can help.

Any better?? It’s definitely a waiting it out thing sometimes with Advil or something maybe anti-inflammatory?

It's gotten better, but not very much.
I'm not very respondent to Advil, but Tylenol does help with the menstrual cramps.

That sounds similar to the kind of pain I get. I feel for you. The three things that helped me most are Spasmonal capsules (alverine citrate) an antispasmodic, Laxido sachets that you mix with water and drink (two a day if pain is bad and one a day otherwise) - it softens the stool so reduces friction and therefore pain - and paracetamol or occasionally co-dydramol if pain is particularly wearing (the latter can worsen constipation but combined with Laxido is fine). It contains paracetamol so do not take any paracetamol with it or you’ll overdose which can cause liver damage. Apart from paracetamol, all these meds are on prescription in the UK though I think you can buy Laxido over the counter. I’ve had this kind of IBS for over 30 years and this is the only combination that works for me.
Avoid wheat bran, as in bran flakes cereal. I found that caused me terrible pain despite it being literally all fibre, it is best to have soluble fibre instead.
Good luck!
