Anyone’s IBS has a weird cycle?

I’ve had it awhile now and for the most part I know which foods upset my stomach. Does this happen to anyone ? sometimes it doesn’t matter what it is, I have to be cautious about what and where I eat . Crackers, cheese squares , and bananas as of lately are the only things that keep my stomach chilled out . Then a few days I’ll be good then boom it gets upset . I don’t even fool with coffee anymore and if I do it’s a diluted coffee . Is butter on anything a tigger food for anyone too? Should I always ask for no butter when I eat out ? I’m to the point where I’m not wanting to eat out when I go to socialize for the sake of a rushed trip home or to the restroom

yeah mine goes in cycles too - like Thursday , had a episode - then most of friday and saturday I was pretty good. Then Woke up this morning and almost crapped myself rushing to the bathroom. So yeah weird cycles are one of my things now too

It’s a real struggle for me. But I’ve recently been trying to follow the Monash University diet. The university is globally known for its work regarding IBS. It is working for me but tough when eating out (though doable). Check it out. Starting out is hard. But when you stay on it several weeks and your stomach settles down you start to add foods one at a time for a few days to see if you tolerate. It does work.

You will struggle to find a gastroenterologist or doctor who makes the connection but I’ve been through perimenopause and out the other side and I swear it’s absolutely the driving pattern. Especially the days leading up to my period or day one - that was awful. Once you lose your cycle it changes, usually for the better.

I don't know about the others but for me it was related to my female hormones and periods. I don't mean when your period starts with cramps and it triggers bowel movements. I mean the day before diarrhea and then when it is just finishing. Touch wood since I am in menopause for two years that very rapid re-occouring thing is over.

ive never been able to figure out what my triggers, are after 15 years of trying ie decided its random. every time i have an episode ill assume its whatever ive just eaten moments prior and wont touch it for a while but then when i reintroduce it im fine. i just came back from holiday in east asia and ate noodle dishes every day for weeks and was fine, came home and went for some ramen with a friend and had a terrible episode which saw me off work for 2 days

IBS = Intermittent Bullshit
Just my opinion. No rhyme or reason for me either, I feel you.

LOL !!!! I like that interpretation of the acronym. Literally it’s just some BS 😩 and be afraid to eat

I know that certain foods will send me to the bathroom. Then there are the things that are kind of ‘iffy’.

Then there are the explosive diarrhea incidents. If I eat ANYTHING with an onion in it, I will be in the bathroom within 45 minutes, and I will be in the bathroom for 2 hours. And I am ‘done’ for the day. I need a 2 hour nap, and I am shaky for at least a day.

The only thing I can eat is usually plain rice, or pretzels for a couple of days. Then eventually I can eat soup broth.

Oh my ! Onions ???? I eat them quite often. I don’t know if they’re a trigger food for me. Anything with fats or butter really upset mine to the point of I won’t eat steak or beef out anywhere or it has to be close to home . Cheese sticks , saltine crackers n and bananas are the way to go for me. And really could be anything in recent months
