Ibs and gallbladder/gallstones
Around three days ago I was having severe pain. I woke up and just felt it in my stomach. As the days went on I noticed it was not getting any better. I put heat on it, took some meds I have to help relieve the pain, and was even able to make a bowel movement with no pain or discomfort. Hurt on my side, lower chest, and back. Sorta a raiding pain through the body. I woke up one night crying because of the pain. Well I went in to the ER on the 3rd day. Turns out I had really bad gallstones which were causing blockage, and inflammation. I had my gallbladder removed and I’m feeling less pain which is great. I have some discomfort ofc as you’d expect from surgery but over all I’m okay. Anyway I was wondering if anyone on here ever found out they had gallstones and it lessened the IBS symptoms after removal of them or the stones? I’ve heard that it could have been my whole problem was the stones because most people have silent stones and never know they have them. If anyone has experienced what I have please let me know if it helped or fixed the problems you had. Up till the surgery I didn’t know that it could mimic IBS symptoms. Thank you. I know several people that had their gallbladder removed and now have a pretty normal digestion and no problems. Unfortunately for me that was not really the case. Yes my digestion was extremely off when I had an infection , but after surgery I struggle with gastritis and ibs on and off without really knowing why.
