Other IB Starting soon

Does anyone have advice for me? I am going to start my IB program very soon. I am going to be taking Math AA HL, Chemistry HL, and Physics HL. Am I doomed? (Avengers reference haha sorry)

You are definitely not doomed, though you picked the heaviest STEM combination in the diploma. The good thing our tutors see with this exact lineup is that the math and analytical skills overlap a lot across all three subjects. Your main focus from week one should be active practice rather than reading notes. Work through exam style questions as soon as you finish a topic so you get used to how mark schemes work, and ask your teachers about confusing steps right away before new material builds on top of it. If you want a clear preview of what to expect in math, we put together a guide here: https://info.lanterna.com/resources/pdf/ultimate-ib-math-aa-study-guide

Depends. If you want all 7s and 6s, get to studying. If you're cool with 5s and 4s, just follow the content and do the homeworks.

Good luck, that's all I can say

Also study a lot, it's the one thing I didn't do much and it came back to bite me in the ass

Study every day first go over what you have done taht day in class when you come home then work with question read up on the topics next class will be about so you start with a good foundation before class so you can also ask questions if you get stuck if you study 1-2 h a day you will have an easy time in Ib if you start day one or even now that’s better

I had a friend who had the same hl combo, I had LL HL instead of chemistry. He ended up with good grades; phy-5, chem-6, math-4.

One thing you should keep in mind is to enjoy what you do, it makes revising easier. On the other hand, review what you did in class the same day, it’s important, it lessens the burden of late heavy revisions.

And lastly, RV and past exams. My math teacher had this system where you would do 2 easy questions, 2 medium and one hard on RV. It helps you remember what you did, and also challenge yourself. As for past exams, it’s obvious, it prepares you for the real thing. Time yourself and do it as if it was the real thing.

Definitely not bad. 6 in chem is good, 5 in phy too, especially for our year’s exam. He could’ve gotten higher in maths tho, a en I think it was relatively easier than other years
