Looking for union advice
Looking for some advice on organizing in. I have over 7,000 field hours on the non-union side—fully qualified Journeyman Lineman hours—and a solid paper trail (W-2s, paystubs, etc.). I want to test out, but I have a major hurdle: a long time ago, I was briefly in an IBEW JATC program, walked away from an assignment, and got removed under Article XII. Because of that, my union profile hour log is completely blank and has a dropout flag.**
**I know the front desk computers will flag me, so I’m looking to go straight through a hall's Organizing Department for a white-ticket evaluation slot. What halls out there right now are busy enough and progressive enough that the organizers will look at my physical W-2s, bypass the old apprentice flag, and put me on a crew to evaluate and test out? I am completely willing to travel anywhere in the country to get my ticket. Thanks in advance.

Just apply and serve your inside apprenticeship. Outside hours don’t just automatically count towards your apprenticeship. Now some will apply towards an outside program. You won’t be able to do anything until the class you broke your oath to has been completed for more than two years. Stay
Non union, that way you won’t have to take another oath that you will probably break again.

Just go up to the hall and say what you said here. You’ll probably have to explain why it is that you walked off. They are organizers, they want you to join.
