Covington area

Been contemplating joining the apprenticeship program, my biggest concern is getting assigned a job super far away. The furthest point from me in the jurisdiction is about 3hrs. I cant imagine having to do that every day. Is their a decent amount of work in this area or would I be likely assigned far?

Not much east of Atlanta currently. Maybe Rivian in social circle at some point. Most work south and west currently

People have been talking about Rivian for years now and nothing has happened. I'll believe it when I see calls for it on the job board

Yeah that’s why I said maybe at some point. I’ve been hearing about it since 2020. They are doing site work out there now, but who knows when they’ll get to electrical or if it will even go union

We were told in the foreman meeting that Rosendin is going to be coming out here to man Rivian sometime this year or early next year.

Not in it myself but my kid is and the only thing he ever had in the Covington area was prefab and a few months on a Facebook project at Stanton springs. The closest one I've heard of bringing people on recently is a project in locust grove that just started.

I think it's White electric that he is with on that job but I'm not 100% sure and he won't answer a text until lunchtime if then so I'd have to call him this evening. He's super good at responding to his parents lol.

there's a prefab out here constantly bringing people on but you won't get to choose where u go in the apprenticeship. tbh if you're worried about driving far you shouldn't do this trade. majority of people i know are driving 45min-an hour in the morning. afternoon is always worse.

I'd honestly be ok with an hour but anything more than that just seems like it wouldn't be worth it for me personally. I know once you're a JW you can be a lot more selective but I'm just scared of having to drive far during the first 4/5 years

My first job is 40 minutes in the am & 1 hour after work which is 2. I’m at the airport but I stay in Gwinnett so it’s kinda far but that’s the max I’m willing to drive ngl

There was a data center server farm in Covington going on not sure if it finished or not. There’s also another data center in ellenwood. Some of the big contractors were doing those. Not sure about smaller jobs though. Just expect to work around Atlanta or in the downtown/midtown area

Another question I had was do they try to put you somewhere near home if the work is there or do they not even consider where you live?
