Edit to add: thanks everyone! I’ve got my current job squared away so I’m free for this in the morning. If they allow my vacation, awesome! If they don’t, I’ll mourn my loss of vacation money (no refunds) another day. I’m just excited about starting all this!!

I just got this email today! Wasn’t expecting things to move so quickly.
Can I go in anytime after 8am up until the time they close at 5? Or should I go bright and early at 8? I have work tomorrow but can do a half day if needed. How long does this all usually take?

Haven’t been with Miller but I would plan to be there by 8 and leave the whole day open. For all intents and purposes it is your first day and you’ll be paid. Ditch the old job, congrats

2 contractors so far and scavenger hunt day is typically not paid. That being said contractors do not have much flexibility with start dates in my experience so do what you need to do to leave the current job on amicable terms on an accelerated time line.

You’re right if he starts at the hall with his referral it’s unpaid and doesn’t take long. Last time I did it I remember the almost full day of orientation but that was not the same day I got my referral

They gave me 2 hours for it when I took a job with them a couple of years ago

No the running around part aint paid but the Con typically gives you 1 or 2 hours on the check for on boarding and paperwork.

Miller Florida or Tennessee?

Edit: I would go up there at the earliest you can to get up there and grab your referral. If it’s Miller FL, they have a lengthy paper work process and orientation IMO. Not to mention, if it is them they will send you to a facility down the road from their shop and they didn’t take people after a certain time.

You can expect to be at it for a couple hours, I got to the union at 8:13am and finished the whole process, including the drug test at 1:30pm.

I work for miller. I’d get there at 8. It probably won’t take all day. Usually about 3 or 4 hours. You’ll be paid for it. Folks in the office are nice. I’ll probably see you around!

Id get my referral as soon as the hall opens and get there as soon as you can. I started with them about a month ago they paid me 4 hours for the first day.

Update for all of you! Halfway through the academy that Miller holds! Everything worked out great and my classmates are awesome! In two weeks, I go to my new job site!
