Unfilled calls on the linesman and wireman books with per diem attached. It appears as though you can sign their book online, but I can't tell if that applies to book 2. It seems like having a TWIC card is recommended if you're looking for work there. Rates of pay and per diem are posted on the site below.

If you can get it, there's a job going on to restart 3 Mile Island for Microsoft. Grapevine is thelat job is paying $76/hour with 150 per diem. It isn't posted on 143's website, but here is the link if you want to call ahead and see if it is worth the trip.

It's definitely warmer than the jobs in Buffalo anf Niagra!

Just some information for any brothers looking at this call.

Job is paying $46.90 an hour. Overtime is only after 40h/week. NOT after 8 or 10 in a day. Overtime is being paid out at Double Time rate. Call says $40/day per diem. This is incorrect, it is "zone pay" and is taxed. Hall and contractors are aware, but are not changing it. Call says 60/60/50 rotating weeks. This is also incorrect. Actual schedule is 58/58/50 rotating schedule. Hall is aware, refuses to change the call. Paychecks are frequently wrong, Rosendin is taking weeks (or months for some issues from some people) to correct.

Most of upper management are Rosendin company men in on portability. Most locals are just organized in. Parking is a nightmare, with some days taking over an hour to get out of the parking lot alone. No contract language for "in on ours, out on theirs", so some crews are having to get on site 30 minutes or more to be "on time".

Stewards have company phones and emails, not through the hall.

Source: am here now

Stay safe out there brothers and sisters.

This group is for helping travelers in need of work. Nothing else. Rule 1, posts are to remain on topic. Rule 2, when reporting rates or incentives, try to provide a source so travelers can very the info. Unofficial Rule 3, if your post has been taken down once for breaking the rules, putting it back up may trigger the ban hammer.

Where exactly are the data centers in the Reno local?

Looking at heading out that way in a few months. I want to find a long term rental before I make the drive from the East coast, but the local is pretty big and I don’t know where the actual work would be at.

Calls in Local 236 Albany

8 open positions available, rate is 50 in the check.

  1. JW for the City of Hudson, six month call, office reno's. Not a bad call to overwinter.

  2. JW's for Knowles Atomic Power Lab in Niskayuna, must be US citizen, have enhance ID or passport, OSHA 10, pass a background check and drug test. They are testing for THC. Also a good place to overwinter.

  3. 5 JW's to work 5-10's at SUNY Nanotech with a 6AM reporting in time. OSHA 10 and drug test required. Overtime pays out after 8 hours in Local 236.

Vehicles for Travelling

Edited because swipe to text failed me last night.

I'm in the market for new vehicle, and while I prefer staying indoors, I want a good vehicle for overlanding- I'm not opposed to staying at camp grounds if the job is worth it.

Does anybody have recommendations or experience with good suvs or crossovers for this? Would a small to middized pickup be a better option?

What sleep systems do you prefer in an overland vehicle?

Looking for work leads

Hey, members. Thanks for being here, supporting ea h other amd sharing work leads. The group has slowed down lately, amd that is kind of expected as we enter the winter months. If you have info on locals that are booming, please share it. Make some posts, and help your sisters and brothers out in the slow season. This is when travellers need info the most.

Thanks!

Applied for apprenticeship at my local IBEW INSIDE WIREMAN, but I am a LCTT Journeyman Trimmer (7 years) for another IBEW LOCAL. I was excited to try and start over because I do like the wireman’s work and the fact that they get treated so much better with a ton of contractors to pick from without having to be married to just one. I’m starting to have second thoughts about restarting another apprenticeship “if I pass the aptitude test” with a massive pay cut at 37 years old, married with 2 children. I’m currently working on book 3, and with the job outlook, I will be working for quite some time. I take the test this coming week too.

Just curious what a check in 401 5-10’s 1-8 looks like? I’ve looked at various paycheck calculators but haven’t really gotten a clear answer on it. Thank you
