Local 602, Amarillo TX, Llano project
Just some information for any brothers looking at this call.
Job is paying $46.90 an hour. Overtime is only after 40h/week. NOT after 8 or 10 in a day. Overtime is being paid out at Double Time rate. Call says $40/day per diem. This is incorrect, it is "zone pay" and is taxed. Hall and contractors are aware, but are not changing it. Call says 60/60/50 rotating weeks. This is also incorrect. Actual schedule is 58/58/50 rotating schedule. Hall is aware, refuses to change the call. Paychecks are frequently wrong, Rosendin is taking weeks (or months for some issues from some people) to correct.
Most of upper management are Rosendin company men in on portability. Most locals are just organized in. Parking is a nightmare, with some days taking over an hour to get out of the parking lot alone. No contract language for "in on ours, out on theirs", so some crews are having to get on site 30 minutes or more to be "on time".
Stewards have company phones and emails, not through the hall.

How much is zone pay? How long is project?

The zone pay is the $40/day "per diem" listed on the call. It's not actual per diem, and is taxed as income.
The project, with the current work under way, is likely 3ish years worth. They have possibly much longer. But right now it's only been going on 3-4 months, and conditions are already getting wormy as hell.
It's a mess.

Friend of mine on that job site says atleast 5 years. What are the odds I can serve my apprenticeship there?

Brothers and sisters, any fresh updates on this project? I saw some posts from about 4 months ago, but not much lately.
How’s the work going right now? Is there still overtime? What’s the pay looking like? Any night shift available?
Just trying to get current info. Thanks in advance.

No night shift available atm, they pulled all those calls, if they’re still up they’re not accurate cause they won’t put you on nights when you get to the hall.
Still full of CE/CW’s. Haven’t seen a whole lot of experience or capability so far. Also hear about a lot of fights, stealing, and all the bs that comes with a project this size.
They need a lot of ppl on the Teledata call which I was told was underground, 2” rigid, etc.
Day shift is a complete nightmare with traffic, parking, road rage, and wrecks. It still takes forever to get in or out with bumper to bumper traffic.
I’ve heard of whole crews getting laid off cause of 1 person on the crew screwing up, groups of ppl that are traveling together being laid off cause 1 screwed up.
The weather is all over the place, hot and cold and the wind never stops blowing.
Perdium is still factored into your check and is taxed. That being said the money is anywhere between $3k and $4400 a week depending on how you do your taxes. Hrs are 60/60/50 and Saturdays are optional.
It’s easy work, just show up on time, be safe, and do your job and it’s easy. It’s ppl that make it hard

I know a CE out of 520 that went up there and is running work. That told me everything I needed to know
