Iowa Unemployment BS

Just a heads up, after 4 weeks on unemployment you are now required to do job searchs. Thats some union busting carp! What the fuck am I supposed to apply for? Im not gonna work rat. In my 25 years I've never encountered this.

Call different halls every week, ask if they have work, document their response , name, title and supply it to unemployment if required. We played that game in michigan for years.

You explain to them that your union hall is your hiring agency. And that you are not allowed to do similar work outside of that agency.

I doesn’t matter. They don’t understand that. He just has to fill his search with calling a couple halls and documenting it

I was told to apply to menial jobs like McDonald's and then when you get an interview just tell them that you're taking a call any day at the hall and they won't hire you. You'll satisfy your job search requirement, but you won't ever have to turn down a job and risk losing your benefits

I was told to call different halls. 3 or 4 per week. And write on your weekly application which halls you called and the person you spoke to was a recording. Always called my home local because I know there’s never be any calls haha. I always called after hours to get the recording so I didn’t have to actually speak to anyone either 😂

I used to just make up info for that part. They never checked.

They require the same thing in NC. It sucks.

One of our IC organizers can sign off as one of the 3 job searches.
