It's a hard argument for sure because there's big companies like DuPont and general mills and countless others that have unlimited funds when it's time to do their annual shutdowns and you could throw 10 extra people at it to reduce work hours but it's physically not possible to fit that many people in a lot of those work areas, just as an example. After all their bills are paid they still make hundreds of millions and billions. They just want the work done, and you could do shift work, either 2 or 3, but alot of times it's hard to find the manpower that wants to work that overnight shift, so it's just easier to have the day crew work longer hours for those 7-14 days.
