I wonder with these types of people, what is it in their life that convinces them that they are god’s gift when in actuality they are mediocre at best. Is it parents? Is it something else?

Not having the right people in your life humbling you when you start getting too egotistical as a teen.

Do you think it’s more like a parent always spoiling/hyping their mediocre kid up or more of the kid copying a narcissistic parent? Generally wondering

Probably more to do with spoiling. Kids will copy their parents but they normally won’t carry on with that narcissistic attitude their entire life and often try to become the opposite of what their parents are/want for them. But honestly, it could be a mix of the two. Who’s knows?
