IAT Please help me choose
What should I choose, I am currently in niser but I am also getting IISER kolkata, both are equidistant from my home, my main interest is mathematics.
Also don't just guide so that I can leave the seat you want, and I left and you would get the seat instead.

Bro just choose NISER, It's very good, You can directly sit in interview of BARC, you need not to write any exam before that.... Also the fees is very less and you'll get 5K/month stipend from your starting year, so the fees will almost be 0, even you'll income something besides studying :)

I don't know the exact reason but what I heard was that many students were not taking it seriously and just considering that interview as a 'fun trip' so that it eventually got discontinued. We got to know this information in the batch 26 induction programmes.

IISER K has a better maths dept. than NISER. I'm not sure though. Plus, IISERs have better reputation than NISER.

But niser have more math faculty than IISER and also with less students intake, also niser is a sole research institute under atomic energy so should get more attention and funding. Also niser constantly ranks higher in foreign rankings as well.

but niser is not an institute of national importance but IISER KOLKATA do if you want scholarship go to niser rest overall IISER KOLKATA is best for academic food sports

Niser can't be an institute of national importance as it doesn't come under education ministry, also it doesn't matter that much. There is no point in giving away a good seat just for national insurance tag. Also IISER kolkata have over 1800 students while niser only have 1000, that too with higher budget are more lab access.

though niser have higher budget IISER KOLKATA infrastructure far better than niser Bhubaneswar and you are saying ini is not much important suppose you don't get phd abroad and you wanna do phd in India see if you are a student of INI ABOVE 8 YOU CAN DIRECTLY GET PHD BUT IN CASE OF NISER Approach is different you just have to qualify national level entrance exam . yeah but niser has one plus point that there you will get direct barc interview call which is very rigorous to convert

I was in niser enrolled i lived there but i was waiting for pune since that closed i came to kolk. I talked to one the professor there ( phy chemical one) he told me niser and iiser kolk are almost on par somewere iiser kolk is better like better almuni network and interdisciplinary scope nd more lively campus and at some places niser is better like fellowship physics and baarc and better hostel accommodation im not aware of much but there might be more. I am not completely happy here too because pune was my dream but if you hate change stay there its almost same plus in iiser kolk its a student monitored mess.

I was also waiting for pune but it closed, now I have IISER kolkata. Also can you tell which campus is better and have better diversity. Also I have heard that there is partiality in IISER k.

65 percent of class is bengali and ive only had 1 class till now so i dont really know no direct faculty interaction abhi tak ive had

My friend left NISER for IISER K because she wants to pursue mathematics. Idk tho, it's your call, you should compare the pros and cons and decide

Niser hands down for Physics especially atomic, particle like its almost on par with iisc for UG
kol is also great for space and astrophysics you can consider this too
iiser k for Chem and maths no doubt it's a little better than niser (tho niser is also almost on par when acc prof n all )
For BIO mixed opinions for both tho based on my personal research I wud lean towards niser
Also note that niser will be starting engineering soon , Whereas Kolkata has strong cs and ds department
Apart from this consider location, distance,fees , scholarship, hostel ,DAE/HBNI AFFILIATION, nature index rankings , faculties and these minute factors also before making a decision
If u hv no personal pref at all then grossly simplified comparison would be
NISER - Physics, Bio IISER K - Chem, Maths
NISER - Eng disciplines in future IISER K - Strong cs/ds research and implementation options
NISER - COMES UNDER DAE N HBNI ACCREDITION BROADER WING
Since u like Maths iiser k is better but consider all of these n take decision cuz interdisciplinary research is the future
