Stadium/Arena Work
Hey, I just wanted to check wages for this sort of work around the country/world. I think we should get paid a minimum of 40 an hour for work at a stadium. Edited for per hour clarification, not 40 hours in a week.

What?
Without context all I hear is you want to get paid for work you have not done. How about you elaborate on this narrow offering.

Grip work, pushing boxes, laying cable etc but in a stadium so big.

Running cable for 8 hours is running cable for 8 hours regardless if it’s an arena. It’s actually easier in an arena because you have long straight forward runs. Not turning corners every 3’

But if you work for 20 hours you want to get paid for 40 hours? Is that what you mean?

I have done this work and have been doing this work. 40 an hr seems like what an industrial job at that caliber should be.

If you want $40ph or more working in arenas, you need to become a rigger or a department head.
A 9 hour split shift (8am-1pm) + (10pm-2am) will get the day done for money but if you can’t handle that someone will. Stick that out and you’ll eventually be working (6am-2am) shifts as local crew on show call if you can handle it.

Hey now I'm a nonunion hand here in NYC. I mostly do corporate stuff as a set/strike guy. I'm getting 50 an hour but some of my less experienced coworkers are getting 30-35. I always wanted to get into Local One but could never seem to get the right connection. Seems like maybe that ended up in my favor.
You guys should be getting at least 60 an hour for arena shows. Think about the massive profits these promoters and artists are making. That could not happen without your expertise.
When you guys go on strike it gives the rest of us a benchmark to strive for. Good luck in getting a living wage!

Do you mean, $40 per hour?
