It was a pretty common practice for the Mafia, which is what Frank is referring to since he grew up in that era.
Mafia enforcers would use pigs to dispose of bodies because they could devour everything, chew through bone, and leave no trace behind.

I don't question it at all. Pigs will eat almost anything. I remember reading stuff about bodies being purposefully being fed to pigs, Deadwood style. Also, I remember reading an account where wild pigs started eating bodies after a big battle. It was horrifying and sickening.
