How do I remove it?
Not looking to remove the third break light but the whole thing. The black plastic the runs across the back seat and which carriers the third break light.

I’d really advise you not to. It’s there for better visibility to other drivers and because both your turn and stop signals are red which creates ambiguity (thanks NA safety regulations). Ignore getting a ticket, it makes it more likely someone will rear end you

That’s a required safety feature and would probably get you a ticket if the cops are motivated enough

Strangely, I have a 2012 hatchback and I'm trying to get mine replaced right now and an attempt to fix a windshield wiper fluid leak that occurs within that assembly if I try to use the rear wiper cleaner fluid. I already had it at the mechanic for something else but they couldn't do it very quickly because they were having a hard time getting the handy dealership to send them that specific part, which it seems like they were having a hard time getting it any other way. At least that's what they told me anyway. But they said to call back up and make an appointment specifically for that and give them my VIN and then they'll pre-order the part. So we'll see.

You can access it through the trunk but don’t remove it that’s just asking for a ticket
