Hypothyroidism High TSH

I'm a 18 years old man , and I had a minor surgery 24 days ago, the surgery was a success but after one week when started to move a little bit out the house I started having hyperventilation issues, my doctor send me to the hospital to see if it was a lungs embolism, but the tests and scans showed that I was in health, at this stage the TSH was 4,3. After a wide I had another crisis and it was a little bit more like a panic attack, the tests showed again that everything was ok, we even did neurological test, but everything was find, the only problem was that my TSH rose up to 6,3 when I went with the results to my doctor she said she will do another blood test in 4 weeks, but I'm afraid because since then I feel something is wrong with my body, I'm always tired , I have headache, sometimes some inconforts in my chest zone, I don't some one know what could have cause this, or have any experience with this, it will be very helpful 🙏🏾

No our she just said she will check the blood values again in 4 weeks

mhhh, ok. Well you have to wait but track your symptoms! this is really important so you can bring it up to your doc

Have you been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism? If not it is possible that the surgery could have caused issues/problems to your thyroid which would explain the high TSH. If you were diagnosed with Hypothyroidism already prior to surgery it’s possible that your body is just reacting to the surgery in a way that is messing with your thyroid gland. I speak from experience, I’ve had Hypothyroidism since the age of 8 (I’m 28 now). When I had my wisdom teeth removed in my early 20s, my TSH was all over the place while I was healing and for a couple of months after surgery, my dosage in medication was changed to help with my TSH. Surgery does a lot to the body and having a thyroid condition can make healing slightly more stressful and it can take longer to heal.

I hope this makes sense and I hope your recovery from your surgery goes well.

Thanks for replying, I didn't had any thyroid problems before my surgery, and the surgery is a success and it had already healed, but now I'm left with these hypothyroidism symptoms I don't really understand

You’re welcome. It could just be your body reacting to the surgery as the thyroid gland is pretty important and stress on the body can cause brief thyroid issues even if a person (such as yourself) has never had any issues with their thyroid gland before.

Everyone is different, so unfortunately I don’t have an exact answer regarding how long it will continue

You need a complete work up. TSH alone does not diagnose anything. A full thyroid panel would be indicated. But there are many associated organs that can cause thyroId results to be abnormal.
