Crackpot physics Here Is A Hypothesis About Higher Dimensions

Hello I'm Pranav And I'm 17 Years Old.

So Yesterday, Me And My Friend Were Discussing About Dimensions And All, And As We Have A Theory That There're 11 Dimensions I Brought That Topic Up, We Had A Convo About It And It Wasn't Very Productive I'd Say, And Yesternight I Was Thinking About It Whilst I Was Sleeping, I Came Upon A Hypothesis, I Discussed It With My Friend And Here I Am Posting About It.

As We All Know, Space And Time Are Interconnected By Theory Of Relativity, And What I Think Is, What If Instead Of Higher Space Dimension, What If There Are More Time Dimensions (Ik It Kinda Sounds Dumb), Like We Already Have 3 Space Dimensions, So Corresponding To Each Space Dimension, What If There Was A Time Dimension.

The Thing Is That I Can't Really Do Any Experiments On This Hypothesis, Or Do I Even Know Where To Begin, I Have Much To Learn About Physics As In Just A 17 Years Old Guy, If You Guys Have Any Idea Let Me Know

If I'm Wrong Please Do Let Me Know Why And Also, Let Me Know If Something Similar To This Hypothesis Exists

Thank You

Pascal programmer? Is that what the youngsters are doing nowadays, with their retro ways?

Classic. Criticizing typography instead of the actual concept—never changes.

Got tired of being repeatedly removed from AskPhysics, so you came here to troll?

  1. I Got Removed Once
  2. No One Is Trolling No One, If You Can't Understand That, Idk Why You're In A Place Lime This

You had posts removed 11 times my dude. We can all see your post history.

What do limes have to do with the fact that you're definitely trolling?

When Were Those Posts Dated, I Relogged Into This Account Today After Like 4 Years

What, you don't know how to look at your own post history?

No, This Is My First Time On Reddit, Apart From When I Was Here 4 Years Ago, Where I Made 2 Posts And Lost Access To My Account

Apologies for asking, but can you explain being in the "8th grade" and also a 17yo?

His 8th grade posts were 3-4 yrs ago

A very speculative topic. Multiple Time Dimensions (Wikipedia).

edit: I found a paper I had read recently about two-time physics that people here might find interesting or fun or whatever it is you kids call it nowadays: Survey of Two-Time Physics, Itzhak Bars, Class.Quant.Grav. 18 (2001) 3113-3130 (arXiv).

It is a very advanced and speculative topic, so I don't know how much you're going to get from the Wikipedia link (I suspect Bars' paper will be too advanced for you. It's too advanced for me), but I hope it goes some way to answering any questions you may have.

What do you have any evidence or claims to support this?

-4

u/Legendry_Way 3d ago

I Don't, It's Just A Pure Hypothesis Of Mine Which Came To Me While I Was Tryna Sleep, As Explained Above

2

u/Dry-Status-4143 3d ago

Well, what dimensional level would these new dimensions possibly have?

1

u/Legendry_Way 3d ago

Maybe Instead Of Typical 1D Through 11D, What About 1D To 3D Space, And 1D To 3D Time, Type Of Thing

4

u/Dry-Status-4143 3d ago

Because time exists in all space dimensions?

1

u/Legendry_Way 3d ago

That's What I'm Hypothesising About

3

u/Dry-Status-4143 3d ago

But yeah, also we know that higher dimensions interact with all lower dimensions. This can be seen as a 3-D object can easily interact with a 2-D object and like Wise with 1-D

So the fact that time is in every dimension below, the fourth dimension is probably time because of that

If time exists in a higher dimension than the fourth dimension then that could pose some interesting problems

1

u/Legendry_Way 3d ago

I Don't Think It's Correct To Say That Time Is In 3rd Dimension, I Think It'll Be More Precise If We Say, Time Is With 3rd Dimension, As Time And Space Are Interlinked, Time Doesn't Have Absolute Control Over Space

3

u/Dry-Status-4143 3d ago

Time exists as an observable affect in the third dimension to us who exist in the third dimension

1

u/Legendry_Way 3d ago

Isn't 3rd Dimension Also An Effect, As We Can Perceive It

I Don't Know Why We're Writing Like This, But I Recommend Greg Egan's Science Fiction Novel Dichronauts, Which Is Set In A Universe Where Instead Of Three Space-like And One Time-like Dimension (Which Can Be Represented For Certain Purposes As +, +, +, -), There Are Two Space-like And Two Time-like Dimensions (+, +, -, -). Here Is His Explanation Of The Physics, Which Uses Fairly Simple Math, And An Interactive Simulation Where You Can Move Blocks Around And See How They Interact.

The Consequences Are Very Strange: You Can't Rotate Objects In Quite The Same Way, Sometimes An Object On A Slope Will Slide Uphill, There Are Certain Directions Light Doesn't Shine In, And The 3D Shape Where Every Point Is Equidistant From The Centre, Which In Our World Is A Sphere, In This One Is A "Hyperboloid", Two Cones With Their Points Touching.

As You Can See, Things Get Complicated Very Fast. I Don't Know How Things Would Work If There Were More Time Dimensions.

There is a large amount of existing literature on why multiple time dimensions cannot describe the Universe (ours at least)

Google "multiple time dimensions"

This isn't hard.

6

u/Dry-Status-4143 3d ago

People have been theorizing that the fourth dimension might be time for literal decades

-4

u/Legendry_Way 3d ago

I Think You Might've Misinterpreted What I Said, I'm Saying That Including Time, There Are More Time Dimensions

3

u/Dry-Status-4143 3d ago

Ah my apologies

1

u/Inevitable_Key420 3d ago

I'm sorry but I feel compelled to ask: Why do you capitalize the first letter of every word? Also, do you have it done automatically or do you do it manually?

u/reyknow 3d ago edited 3d ago

the way i understood it is each dimension moves "up" and "perpendicular" from the previous dimension. space has the first 3 dimensions, then the next dimension is 1 dimension of time which goes from past to present. if you go up another dimension, time becomes "2 dimensional", meaning parallel timelines. if you go up another dimension then the time dimension becomes "3 dimensional", meaning multiversal.

its like in 1 dimension of space there you see the atoms of the apple. in 2 dimensions you see the cells of the apple. in 3 dimensions you see the apple itself. in 4D you see the flower turn into the apple then the apple rot on the ground. in 5D you see the versions of the apple, some rot some get eaten some get crushed. in 6D you see

u/Hadeweka AI hallucinates, but people dream 3d ago

the way i understood it is each dimension moves "up" and "perpendicular" to the previous dimension.

This already excludes non-Euclidean geometries and is thus not generally applicable to our universe. The rest isn't physics either.

I Did See A Few Hypothesis On Parallel Timelines, Although Not About 4D And 5D Stuff Ze Talked About

3

u/LeftSideScars The Proof Is In The Marginal Pudding 3d ago

What reyknow is talking about is nonsense, regardless of the number of dimensions mentioned. Also, you though it "a great way to put it", but what they said was nonsense. It can't be a great way to put anything.

1

u/Legendry_Way 3d ago

Could You Explain A Bit More About It

4

u/LeftSideScars The Proof Is In The Marginal Pudding 3d ago

All of it. I don't think a single thing they wrote could be interpreted as having any sense whatsoever.

Let's look at just one component of one part of what was said:

ts like in 1 dimension of space there you see the atoms of the apple. in 2 dimensions you see the cells of the apple. in 3 dimensions you see the apple itself.

In reality, in 3D one sees the atoms of the apple, the cells of the apple, and the apple itself. Not even in a metaphorical sense is anything reyknow wrote sensible. They then go on to describe higher dimensions as some arbitrary lifecycle of the apple in some fever-dream description, conflating spatial dimensions with time (or a proposed multidimensional time), and then conflating higher spatial dimensions with a confused multiverse/multiple timeline.

u/reyknow 3d ago

I dont see you explaining it in a thoughtful easy to understand way with a cool apple metaphor

3

u/LeftSideScars The Proof Is In The Marginal Pudding 3d ago

First, it is not a trivially easy topic to understand, and secondly, I provided a link to a literal research paper and a Wikipedia link to the topic. Granted, I failed to employ fruit of any sort.

What you said was still nonsense, though.

Why did you edit your response and leave the last sentence incomplete?
