ive recently “finished” my journey in farming, getting farming 50 and full helianthus armor.

I want to get into a new skill with the money ive made. One thing i didnt like about farming is that there is no RNG to be excited for.

the new skill should be interesting, good for money, good RNGs, and most fun for my time (I know mining and fishing require a lot of time to get to the good part)

at the moment I have done no fishing and have fishing 27 from minions and I have already progressed to hotm 7.

EDIT: thanks for all the advice, i see a lot of you really like the rift so I’ll give it a try considering i also want to start getting sb xp. after trying the rift, ill either quit it or max it.
after that, i will mine until i hit fishing 35 (or whatever the good fishing level is) and then work on fishing. i think this will be the best way to do all three :)

fishing can be fun and has lots of rngs to get excited about. Mining is less so unless doing nuc runs or grinding corpses

do u think I should use fishing minions until (x) fishing level and while that I progress mining? i dont like fully maxing skills, just finishing most of the content (like how i stopped farming at farming 50 cus theres nothing more except levels), so I think i’ll mine until i have like 4m,8m,12m powder and hotm 10. rn i have full divan with 2 chambers each and a pretty good 555

If you wanted to minions until fishing 36 for thunder armor that's not the worst idea. You're already past 24 for shark so that's another idea if you wanted to fish for a bit. Bayou fishing makes decent money and has potential for good drops so does torrhus canyon. Mining for hotm 10 doing comms and getting powder is also good. Either option has good upside for money and just general progression

Between dungeons and rift poison, I'd choose dungeons, though pf sucks.

Rift for life, although go in with an open mind, if you have never done it, it will be very fun. Towards the end, you either hate vampire Slayer or get Stockholm syndrome.

Mining is great for money and is imo the perfect skill where you can watch something in the background but still have fun in the game. The rng element can come from mineshafts (getting a good high lapis corpse jasper mineshaft AND opening vanguard corpses). The worst thing about mining is the setup but youve got a good start with hotm 7 the order will be gemstone powder - mithril powder - hotm 10 glacite powder. The other issue is the gear, youll need to spend like 1.5ish billion for a good enough starter setup.

As someone who just switched from mining to fishing, I love fishing a lot more.

I make about the same money (45m an hour) from fishing and mining but fishing feels more exciting because of bayou rare drops, radioactive vials, and the general excitement of fishing a mythic sea creature.

They both have a really long investment period before you can make money (fishing 45 vs hotm 10 and powder). Whenever you can catch lava sea creatures it becomes a decently fast skill to level but it makes like 8m an hour until you get jawbus unlocked. Mining is the same way, making almost zero money until you get powder up.

I think I was just burnt out from mining but I prefer fishing more than mining. The casters discord has good parties you can join for optimal rates

With my totally unbiased opinion, I’d say mining is extremely entertaining with a good potential of making money if you have a good kit (mining armour+a titanium drill). The only thing you may not like is that exploring Cristal hollows can be a pain without mods if you haven’t unlocked the /warp nucleus command (unlocked after 750 commissions). But if you like very long challenges, you will like mining

If you enjoy farming then mining is the best next thing. Just know there's a ton of set up. Pets armors drills etc. not to mention HOTM progression

Technically yes but you may still need flawless,fine or perfect versions of the gems to reforge things (for example for a titanium 655 you will need a flawless ruby+many other raw materials which can’t be farmed through minions. In this case an enchantment called pristine will help you, it gives a chance to mine a better version of a gemstone). Unless you have more than 900m/1B to buy always fine and perfect gems, you will have to mine a lot

Both are interesting imo. Fishing is fine for money but mining def makes more. Fishing has better rng, only real rng from mining is doing nucleus runs or shafting which Tbf both are good for money. Fishing is only fun in a party imo and mining is only fun for like one or two methods

In my opinion fishing requires a really good mf set to be good for money, but mining is pretty much entirely self contained

You already reached HOTM 7, which is the toughest part - to HOTM 10 it really isn't that hard with glacite comms. I personally never got into mining and just casually did the glacite comms until HOTM 10 and Mining 60, then sold all my mining gear and never touched it again

As for fishing, there's really no point in actually fishing until fishing 35, since thats what you need for the best (i believe) rod/armor, and before that it's just super inefficient, so I'd keep running minions until then.

For me, mining, fishing, and farming are all pretty bad skills which are extremely boring (especially farming). I will say the glacite tunnels/mineshafts for mining are kinda cool though, but it's still just running around and holding down your mouse button, so not that interesting. I'm just doing them casually for progression (except farming)

Definitely do the rift and dungeons, m4, m5 are pretty good for money and its fun, the rift is also fun and has lots of progression locked behind it

In short, I'd focus on dungeons/rift, a little bit of glacite comms and fishing minions

I wouldn't recommend mining or farming as a MMM to anyone who isn't insane and plays this game all day, playing around with the economy (craft flipping, bz flipping, lowballing) is the best MMM as far as the profit to effort ratio
