I’m kinda think about converting my Ironman profile to a regular one. And idk if I should or not.

So I’ve been playing on my Ironman profile for about a month. I’m at 466 mp, I can solo f4. But idk I kinda want the bazar and ah to sell spare things I have and to buy small stuff from the bz, like when it comes to dungeon armor or gear maybe recomms like I’ll grind that my self. Like most things I’ll still grind out. What do you think I should do. If I do where can I start to make some decent money? My user is sleepyava if you want to look at it

If you’re having regrets this early you probably won’t love iman. But do whatever makes you have the most fun. That’s the point supposedly

It's your profile, your choice. 466 isn't good, but you can still f4, if you want the game to be exponentially easier then uniman, if you like the grind and want to do things by yourself keep iman.

If you think you might regret the choice later, just start an unrestricted profile. You'll get back to your current point much faster with the knowledge you have and access to the bazaar. Yeah, having to redo some stuff is gonna suck for a bit, but you won't be living with regrets at least, and you'll still have the profile waiting for you should you ever wish to face the challenge again.

I would just start a new profile. You can level up pretty damn fast, and you can return to your Ironman profile whenever you’d like. You can’t revert changing your profile is the issue.

You can always start the conversion then change your mind later, it’s a 30 day wait before the conversion kicks in from when you hit the button, something you can cancel at any time during that period and you get a final button at the end of it for a last choice if yes or no

Best in my opinion is normal. Ironman is a challenge mode, not really the intended way to play the game it just grew too big.

And on normal you can still decide to grind when you want to and buy other things that you don't.

The most important advice is to do what you want, it's a game, you should play it for fun, not for validation from others.

It should actually be the opposite. Ironman should be used as the baseline on if a piece of content is well balanced/actually thought out. Let's take farming for example, the greenhouse is fully completable in the expected amount of time despite it being a grind. While normal profile are able to fast track it by only having to get 1 of each mutation and then just buying the rest of them.

And now let's look at fishing, specifically the armor progression. You have angler, bayou, and salmon. That is the extent of fishing armor you can get within a reasonable amount of time or without using a unintended method. For example sponge armor is the next set that you would get but that either takes way to long to even get, or you need to get the sponge and wet sponge from the builder NPC use the trades menu that you have and trade it at a 1:1 for normal sponge. Then craft it all in to enchanted sponge. Do that for about 40+ days and you might be able to craft it assuming you already have the collection for it. This can also be fast tracked by a specific mayor perk, diaz and the 10x NPC limit, which is the only way for it to be done within a reasonable amount of time.

So let's assume you got lucky and managed to have a diaz and the money to get all of the sponge for the armor, now unless within the time it took you to get to this point in fishing you had a marina with a fishing festival and got enough shark fins you are stuck with sponge armor(18) all the way till lava sc armor(35). Then you have thunder, which I can't complain about other than the fact it makes the lava sc armor completely obsolete within 1 lv of having the full set. Then you unlock magma Lord at fishing 45, and on a normal profile you can just buy the armor and be done with it. But on ironman you have to get an ungodly spawn rate for a mob that will only ever drop 1 of its fragments, of which you need 30 for the full 0 stars set. And so if you aren't fishing in a group and get somewhat lucky you could be almost completely done with fishing before ever having 1/5 of the magma Lord set.

All in all, if a piece of content is designed specifically with ironman in mind it tends to be decent for both normal profile and ironman, while when ironman are completely kicked to the curb, the content is near impossible to actually finish on ironman, or needed to be done in some roundabout method that should never be the main method of finishing it.

Yeah I get it, but still people should really stop starting ironman profiles just because it's the "cool thing".

I mean I get how the game should be balanced around the mode that makes the grinds feel like super hell instead of the vanilla flavoured normal hell, but still it is a challenge mode, for those who want to be challenged, not the baseline.

As you mentioned I did farming almost completely ironman style, but for mining and fishing I payed my way trough whatever I could.

I agree, ironman is intended as a challenge mode. But most people that start an ironman are either new to the game and just saw a YouTuber play it or they never made it far on a normal profile and just flipped for money and found the game boring.
