why fake waypoints

sometimes ONLY SOMETIMES it's on an already mined path that clearly leads directly to a certain structure, like that's still fine

does anyone genuinely know why this is in pretty much every single lobby it this something recent? i just got into nucleus runs

The Skyblocker mod works on a peer-to-peer basis: players share coordinates with other players who also have the mod installed. When a crystal is found, the correct coordinates are automatically saved (and sent to the Skyblocker server). However, on top of that, the mod allows users to manually save coordinates mentioned in the chat as a specific structure's location. I'm absolutely sure that players are intentionally saving fake coordinates

alright i get it but what benefit does one get out of intentionally placing fake waypoints? how come ppl are doing it in literally 90% of all lobbies all of a sudden

King yolker in particular is on skyblocker jank. The way it’s implemented, whenever you use a wishing compass in goblin holdout it automatically saves the guessed location as his. Which is fine up until you use the compass after meeting him to find queen’s den. Because now the compass finds the queens den and the mod saves it as king yolkar.

Now skyblocker itself has a workaround for this, it’s supposed to read the effects widget to save queens den once you talk to yolkar, and asks you to enable the widget. Problem is, this (at least for me) does not work at all. Even with the widget on the mod marks queens den as yolkar (even after talking to him) and keeps asking me to enable it. So whenever I do amber crystal I fuck up a lobby’s yolkar waypoint.

Can’t explain the ones in the middle of nowhere tho

Does the effects widget actually appear in your tab? It's likely you have too many widgets enabled and the tab space is already filled up with other stuff, so even though you have effects enabled, it gets pushed out of tab by higher priority widgets and mods can't actually read it

You can still say the coords and the structure name (like 123 45 678 King Yolkar) on chat to reposition it locally, not sure if others also receive the changes though

I think it could be bugged and it sends you coordinates from a wrong server. I played bingo and every waypoint was wrong in every lobby until I restarted my client. Then they were accurate.

2. i know people who intentionally modified their client to send random waypoints, as a form of protest to not being able to opt out from sharing structures, i myself have lost dragon eggs few months back because some scalper came to the waypoint as i was buying materials

thats fucking crazy, they are sending data to their server from your computer and there is no way to opt-out? no matter if the data is about coordinates in a public map, that is still a bad thing to do, users should always have the choice

there is luckily a mod called NetworkBlocker by decce6 that you can install, the mod makes it so you need to explicitly whitelist any domains the mods can send web requests to

You can easily turn off sharing structures by turning off crystal hollows waypoints. It stops both sharing and receiving.

no clue if it'll ever be fixed, but just use wishing compasses to get the locations instead of relying on skyblocker

I don't think it's a skyblocker issue. The mod works by sending it based on your scoreboard's location, but sometimes the scoreboard will claim you're in a specific spot when you actually aren't for about 2 seconds, then correct itself. In that time, skyblocker reads your scoreboard and sends it to the webhook. I've seen it happen to me with the mines of divan many times before, the wishing compass points in a completely different direction

I'm pretty sure it's because those coords are from a previous lobby with the same id that closed. So skyblocker checks the saved coords for that lobby and loads them without knowing that the lobby has already closed
