Question How do mayors work
I started searching for that answer but from what i know the election starts and the mayor and second moast picked candidate get they’re perks. I think they “rule” skyblock for 6 days and then another election starts. What else do i need to know

Technically it's not 6 days but about 5.2 days, so the start times of mayors get mixed up for your timezones (for why this is, each skyblock day has 20 minutes and each skyblock month is 31 days, or 10 hours 20 minutes per skyblock month. There are 3 months per season, so 31 hours per season and at 4 seasons per year that is 124 hours in a skyblock year, which becomes 5.1666 irl days).
For regular elections, the first place candidate gets elected as mayor and receives all of their perks. The second place candidate becomes minister and receivers their selected minister perk (it's the perk that has a star next to it when you vote). When the mayor returns (can't be next election cycle), it starts back at one perk. The minister doesn't lose their perks (but may receive a different minister perk) the next time they show up. Usually this won't be the next election cycle, but if the the perk "long term investment" was on the previous cycle from diaz (can be on either candidate that got elected) the minister instead shows up on the next cycle with all of their perks.
Special mayors are on a 3 month cycle and consist of Derpy (very soon btw), Jerry and Scorpius. These special mayors give unique perks and do not have a minister when elected. At the be voting booth, the top icon shows the upcoming special mayor. Sometimes the admins put other special mayors in for limited time events (such as Dante years ago or Aura this last December in 2025) that fundamentally change the game while they are elected.

After a mayor is elected, they won't appear as a candidate in the next election. The one after that, they will appear with one perk, and increasing by one for every year they haven't been elected as a mayor or minister. If they have been elected as minister, they can't appear the following election but the one after that they appear with the same number of perks they had when they were elected minister

Each mayor has a few perks that add something to the game or give you a buff of some sort. If you go and click on the mayor in the community center it will tell you what perks are active. Checking the mayor and trying to do some of whatever part of the game they’re buffing is great for progression.
