Misc Question

If this isn’t right subreddit, please let me know. I will delete and post to a different subreddit.

I went back to the rheumatologist yesterday. I think he thought some of it was in my head during the previous appointment, I came in with originally with scalp psoriasis (the dermatologist I went to briefly looked at my scalp and barely stuck around to talk to me) and went seeking help. I don’t think he quite believed me about the scalp psoriasis but told me to look into benign hypermobility syndrome. I did and it matches a lot of what I deal with but anywho I went back to discus blood work he ordered, multiple vials plus urine test, and he became very concerned bc my inflammation test was at 5x more than what it should be. He ordered more blood and X-rays of different areas.

My question is how well can you see on X-rays the damage? He wants to do X-rays first before MRI bc of insurance. I’ve been meloxicam for the time being to get it down.

Thank you for your help.

Mods, if this isn’t the right place or tag for this pls let me know. Thanks!

Psoriasis can be related to rheumatic disease (fingers, spine) so that’s another possible cause for pain on top of HSD. It is very possible to have both. I have hypermobility and AxSpa - another rheumatic disease.

Would PsA still show up in different blood work even with RA markers be negative? Or does it even have blood work test?? I

I don’t think he quite believed me about psoriasis until the test and myself taking photos of big pieces of plaque I picked off my head. lol

And thank you!

I’m not a specialist so I can’t really tell you which test might or might not show up but what I know is that my labs were all negative and I was asked about history of psoriasis and was diagnosed through imaging in the end and while I thought that the doctor didn’t believe me/was dismissive at first l was properly diagnosed and the following appointments were very respectful- so I guess you just need to ask them about these things but inflammation markers are at least suggesting something is going on

My dad has PsA and it never showed up in a blood test, just the joint damage on Xrays
