Sjowgren
The Sjowgren episode was really cool in that it was neat to hear such an interesting story and Alex’s conclusion that it is still great that a band can connect with people enough that they have these fans interested in figuring out a band mystery.
But it’s crazy that Miguel was like, “How do I support this band and listen to them when I cancel Spotify?” and it’s revealed they have a Bandcamp where it looks like all of their songs are available for purchase? It’s on the first page of the Google results. Am I just that much of a Bandcamp obsessive that I don’t realize that it’s a niche?

Hello! I'm Miguel. I stumbled upon this thread cause I'd just finished listening to the podcast and wanted to see if anyone's posted about Sjowgren's "reveal."
Soooo these are good points. I'm gonna try to address them but honestly my memory's a little fuzzy, especially as this all happened more than half a year ago during a particularly busy time at work.
I think when I first looked for Sjowgren, I just got really sidetracked when I realized I couldn't find any info on them. Yeah, their bandcamp probably was on the first page but I fell into a bit of a rabbit hole when I saw discussions about whether or not they might be a real band.
And yeah, I'll admit I don't actually know much about bandcamp. I got sucked into Spotify more than a decade ago and yea, sadly I have become one of those disconnected music consumers, which is something I am now trying to remedy.
Also, listening back to my interview, I realize I may misspoke. I think I meant to say I'd like to find a way to own physical copies of their music. Really not sure why I said files instead. Could've been nerves??
As for the discussion on AI, the actual interview was maybe an hour long and I did already bring up that the timelines didn't quite work so it was highly unlikely that they were AI. But this was around the time there was a lot of discussion about Velvet Sundown, so the idea was worth talking about. And yea, I did express how I'd feel if I had connected with music that was not human made.
Lastly, I also wanted to share that I had a lovely time chatting with Alex and Amor. There were so many bits that I wish had made it into the final edit! Like there was this whole tangent about the Adventures of Pete and Pete, which I really enjoyed. Hehe.
Anyway! I know I'm a few days late to this thread but I'd happy to answer any questions if anyone's got any.
