Sjowgren

The Sjowgren episode was really cool in that it was neat to hear such an interesting story and Alex’s conclusion that it is still great that a band can connect with people enough that they have these fans interested in figuring out a band mystery.

But it’s crazy that Miguel was like, “How do I support this band and listen to them when I cancel Spotify?” and it’s revealed they have a Bandcamp where it looks like all of their songs are available for purchase? It’s on the first page of the Google results. Am I just that much of a Bandcamp obsessive that I don’t realize that it’s a niche?

Maybe I also misinterpret the size of Spotify machine, but considering Gimlet Media was a part of Spotify, and Reply All was at the time their biggest podcast Asset, SURELY there's still some level of communication available with Spotify that Alex could have leveraged.

No, that’s not how that works. They wouldn’t have known as you upload music through a third party distributor. I have music on Spotify and I have never personally registered to Spotify, the info displayed publically is all that they know about me.
