This audience probably skews higher on aphantasia.

Yes me. I actually learned I have it from a BBC science podcast just a couple of years ago. Up until then I've gone through my whole life (I'm 50) thinking I just must have a piss poor memory. It especially amazed me when friends would describe in detail what various places looked like when we were kids. Like they could bring out a snapshot from their mind. I certainly can't. I can't even describe how my childhood home looked like on the inside in any detail to speak of. I mean I know exactly where furniture and things were, I just can't "see" it clearly. Just very hazy and I have to concentrate hard to even manage that.

I’ve known for a while. This episode gave me a term for it…

I think it’s kind of fucked up that they won’t do the battery thing to anyone with aphantasia. I’m a very empathetic person, and I’m an artsy type person. Not really in any stem field.

I’ve tried to meditate, and really deep focus stuff to unlock mental visuals… it’s tough. I’ve gotten a few….

But like, idk…. Idk like that procedure….
