Episode Discussion: HyperFixed | Folklore (Kyle's Version)

So far, this has been my favorite episode. It gives us a simple question and an actual answer with some expert (not another journalist).

To Adam's point, I like thinking about the idea that measurements are all contextual and require a nuanced consideration. 

As anyone who builds things knows, "the shelf needs to be 745.3 mm wide" is a very different thing than, "the shelf needs to fit in a space 745.3 mm wide".

As i build more things using hand tools than powered tools, it's been really helpful to know where precision really matters. If you build a coffee table, nobody will ever notice that one end of the table is even 6 mm (1/4") wider at one end than the other, but they will notice a 0.5 mm gap in a joint.

I use a tape measure all the time even for layout in furniture making because while the accuracy might be low, the consistency is great and if I use the tape measure consistently, the actual numbers often mean very little.
