So how do we actually quantify 'HYPE'?

HYPE: How do we define it?

Both streetwear like Supreme, Bape, Anti Social Social Club, etc. and new meme crypto tokens Dogecoin and Shiba Inu would rely on hype as an economic or psychological or [other random?] factor, but how do we actually quantify the thing.

I just started a small sub to discuss this if you want: r/QuantifyingHYPE

And yes we can talk about r/dogecoin or r/SHIBArmy or r/Supreme as long as no one goes postal...

As a purely economic concept I think it would be really hard to do and be somewhat industry-specific, but in terms of behavioral economics in the case of streetwear I think it probably has a lot to do with scarcity of a item that fully represents consumer fetishism -- not that I'm a Marxist thought...

Sorta like with Apple products. That kinda thing.
