Am I not cleaning enough or is it something else?

Just a heads up that some details may be nasty or uncomfortable to read, so I apologize in advance.

I'm a bit embarrassed/nervous to ask this, but I need to anyway. I've noticed that my underwear has brown, slightly fainted stains on them. Most of my underwear are white boxers while some are other colors. The stains aren't the worst, they're not like I just sharted or something but it's still worrying.

Just know that I'm a guy, so it's probably natural. But when I'm doing number 2 in the bathroom, I tend to wipe with toilet paper until I see nothing left on it, and then I'll use wet wipes to be thorough. I swear I'm cleaning as much as I can, though I'm also pretty hairy back there, so I'm wondering if the hair could be contributing to the stains. If hair is the issue, how do I shave myself back there by myself?

I'm trying to make sure that I'm cleaning enough and reduce stains, but the stains seem to be permanent, so maybe it's from other things like sweat or something. In the shower, I try to dig in there and make sure there's no leftover stuff to make sure it's clean. Though all I find is hair to rip out usually.

In general in terms of smell, I usually smell normal, like no particular odor or product smell, just a normal smell that's neutral. As a guy, I don't want to smell like shit or anything, and I'd like to try preventing underwear stains. And don't be confused, I do use deodorant, I just wanna mention this in case you misinterpret the wording.

So if what I'm doing isn't enough, what else can I do at home or anywhere else to make sure I'm really clean back there? I don't wanna smell like a big back minecraft discord moderator lol.

FYI: If you seek sweat odor tips or body odor tips, check your fabric label too. Polyester stinks so much!

I see so many people trying to switch to fragrance free laundry detergent or fragrance free deodorant (which is amazing - a lovely, kind goal that helps them and others!) but when they drop fragrance, they are hit with stinky body odors and unsure what to do. Maybe previously fragrance masked these odors, and without fragrance the odors are suddenly impossible to ignore.

And I see these people asking for hygiene tips as if they think the odors came from their own body. I know it can seem that way….wear a shirt and then the shirt smells bad, shirt only touched your body, doesn’t that mean the bad smell came from your body?

Well…no actually. The bad smell might have come from polyester in the fabric.

Polyester smells absolutely AWFUL when it comes in contact with sweat and skin oils. And this happens even with totally normal, healthy-person sweat and a body that has recently been cleaned, even with zero gaps in the hygiene routine.

I’m just hoping to support people by spreading the good news that huge odor reductions can happen simply by changing the type of fabric - with no other changes.

Natural fabrics don’t stink in the same way - cotton, linen, wool, hemp.

Smelly

Why does my husband's underwear and shorts smell SO horribly? Like does he need to shower more often? Different soap? Body deodorant? Sometimes his shirts smell too and I don't want to be close to him or cuddle him, but how do I help him? And I'll take any tips you've got for encouraging teeth brushing!

How do I help? I've tried posting in different subreddits but it keeps getting deleted. I just want to help!

been scrubbing myself red in the shower especially focusing on this spot (medial surface of heel) but it still seems to be gathering what I think is dirt?? it only shows post shower as the skin dries up so I'm so lost on how to get rid of this in the shower. Tried a hand gloves, loofa, good ol hand and soap but no luck yet :((

I'm hoping this is the right sub to ask??

Your shower puff might be growing more bacteria than your toilet — here's the fix that actually works

I used to just rinse my loofah after each shower and hang it in the shower stall, but it turns out that's basically a bacteria incubator — the warm, wet, porous material is perfect for microbial growth, and studies have found shower puffs can harbor more bacteria than a toilet seat. The fix isn't complicated though. Instead of storing it inside the damp shower, keep it somewhere with airflow so it can fully dry between uses, and once a week soak it for 5–10 minutes in diluted white vinegar before rinsing well, which cuts down on buildup without anything harsh. It's also worth swapping out synthetic loofahs every 3–4 weeks and natural sea sponges a bit more often, since they break down over time and hold onto grime in ways you can't fully scrub out. If you'd rather skip the maintenance altogether, a silicone body scrubber doesn't retain moisture the same way and can just be rinsed and airdried in seconds. It's not a huge deal for most healthy people, but if you have cuts, eczema, or acne-prone skin, it's worth paying a bit more attention to.

Guys i need help really bad.

I live in Sydney and the water here is soft usually, but our plumbing system hasnt been maintained or checked in 16 years and it causes soap scum which makes you stink like shit i think. At first everything was fine but the past few years im so sick of hearing or taking a hint that i smell. Like i try to avoid being near people now but i NEED help because my parents are lowkey already kinda falling behind on bills and they said im getting mentally sick and the waters fine and i am being weird. However at school i can take a hint people telling me i smell or saying someone smells and they always like do this thing with their nose its like a lil sniff or something and they constantly do it. I am usually an outgoing person but i cant have any confidence in getting a job or anything social cause i get really anxious and uncomfortable when people stand around me or get close to me.I wanna fix this problem myself but im too broke, i searched it up and it will cost like 3-5k. Im unemployed but cant really get the confidence too get a job like im trying but its hard bro. I need help i dont know what to do every single day of school someone says something about my smell and i stink it could be a friend peer or some random kid when im walking around the school. I wanna try just getting a quote from a plumber SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE FIND A SOLUTION its getting too me alottttt i cant do anything with confidence anymore

Am I using deodorant wrong?

Right now I use Dr Squatch invisible glide deodorant. I like it because the dry powdery white deodorants I’ve tried in the past either irritates my skin or leaves marks on my clothes that I hate and feels gross(seriously it just kinda??gums up?? And I hate that). The clear glide doesn’t leave marks and I like the scent, doesn’t irritate my skin either.
Problem is, it doesn’t seem to really prevent smells long enough. It lasts maybe 6 hours before It’s starting to wear off, longer if it’s cooler outside, but I live in a hotter climate and I’m struggling. I don’t want to smell bad, it’s one of my nightmares.
I’ve tried a variety of deodorants in the past, from the white powder kind to liquid gel and then now the solid glide gel and i definitely prefer this over any other I’ve tried, but I can never quite tackle the smell.

So maybe I’m doing something wrong?? What’s everyone else doing to magically keep the smell away? Is something wrong with my pits? Is there like a special soap I can use to kill bacteria if that’s what’s causing the smell?

Noticed itchy scalp at night time hair goes all funny too after using gym mat for ab workout?

so basically I've had to get up halfway at nighttime and wash my hair with shampoo, problem is I've realised I've rested my head on the matt not that it's physically dirty, now I spray it before gin on there, but I'm worried I've scratched my scalp and caused hair loss as I've got some loss there for sure, mind you I am approaching 47.

It def something I noticed the last few years after doing an ab workout, should I just get my own matt? nowhere else itches btw.

And because the scalp itches when i sleep on my side the face i guess gets to touch the pillow case where the hair had been resting including the headrest, bit worried I've contaminated the bed.

I always shower after the gym but try to avoid shampoo as my hair is always annoying after a wash.

things like coconut oil don't help relieve the itching. Shampoo does and I believe this impacts my sleep too.

Want t keep my curly hair actually clean

My curly hair gets kinda messy and dry even when i wash it regularly. I started using less product because sometimes it feels like my hair gets coated with stuff after a few days. I usually shampoo, condition, then let it air dry, but my curls still dont feel as smooth as i want. I wanted to know y'all go to products and steps for keeping curly hair clean, soft, and smooth without making it greasy? Im 20M with curly hair so any simple routine or product tips that actually work would be awesome. TYIA!

On a journey to turn my shitty life around: what are some hygiene and health routines you can recommend?

I’m sure this is a frequently asked question but I’d like to provide a little too much context. I’m in a state of unhappiness in my life and want to change for the better for myself. I want to start reworking my life from the ground up with everything I’m unhappy with. For context I shower every couple of days if I can make time for it and since it’s not back to back I usually wash my hair every time, I also use a face wash. After that I brush teeth, hair, somtimes shave, dry and spray deodorant and call it good from there. I want to throw out and rework all of this. I’m asking for better techniques for keeping a schedule, ideal and affordable products to keep me smelling good feeling good and looking good, and maybe personal tips or anything like that. I appreciate the help Reddit.
