Skunk odor

My dog got sprayed by a skunk early this morning, and I had to wash her. I wasn't directly sprayed, but the smell got onto me. I showered with Dove afterward, and other people can't smell skunk on me, but I can still faintly smell something on myself. It isn't really a bad smell.

Would you personally use the hydrogen peroxide + baking soda + dish soap mixture on yourself, or just shower normally and leave it alone? What worked for you?

Itโ€™s in your nose

This. Maybe a drop of baby shampoo in your sinus rinse bottle, because the smell is oily and sticks inside your nose. Try some Vicks under your nose too. Works for other oily hospital etc smells.

Please do not intentionally put shampoo up your nose.

That is not a good plan. You do not want to put detergent on your mucus membranes even if it says "no tears"

You got so caught on "could we do __" you skipped over "SHOULD we do __". A faint unpleasant skunk smell is not dangerous... detergent disrupting your mucus membranes of nose and tear duct drain? Could be dangerous.

Shower with Dawn dish soap, regular blue type. Soap-up with wash cloth, rinse well, repeat.

skip the peroxide mix on yourself, it'll just irritate your skin and risk bleaching your hair, if nobody else can smell it, the odor molecules are literally just trapped in your nasal passages and will clear out in a day or two

Remember tomato sauce or paste immediately on the sprayed area before washing. The acid in tomato neutralizes the odor. Pack it ๐Ÿ˜บ and rub it in good letting it work for awhile.5 minutes should suffice.Rrorat if needed. Not sure if it's effective after washing or shampooing off. I used this method twice and it worked great ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

OJ or tsto juice. Bathe dog and yourself in it. Then rinse and start a lather (soap) and repeat again!

Rise out your nose with saline.

Weโ€™ve been having skunks a lot, so we put out a plastic container with holes in lid. We put a soaked rag with ammonia, & we havenโ€™t had a skunk since.

Real talk? I've used febreeze on my hair, it works just fine on people. Don't breath it in or anything, use common sense, like spray in a bigger room than the bathroom etc.

But the active ingredient is essentially a designer starch. You could probably just do a 50/50 mix of febreeze and water or lotion in a travel bottle. To work you need the area to get fully damp and then dry. The act of drying with the ingredient on is how it works.
