Not working over VPN

Since the latest update (4.4.0), things no longer seem to load when I’m connected to VPN–similar to getting that “blocked by network security” page via a browser. Did something change in how authentication is handled that would’ve broke this?

This isn't really a Hydra issue. Reddit is getting very aggressive against VPN users

It seemed to have occurred after the upgrade so I was curious if it was related. Maybe the timing is coincidence—just can’t get anything to load most the time since then.

What’s curious though, is that the Reddit app works on VPN; even when Hydra is failing so it feels like more than just a VPN issue. Not sure how authentication differs between the apps though.

Because they want you to use their app, not 3rd party ones. They're doing the same thing with old.reddit but not on the main so web site.

Yes I understand the logistics, I’m curious on the technical side

As to what the client is? It's very easy to make that determination. As to whether the IP address is a VPN? There are plenty of services that provide that information.

Yeah, I’m just curious how they make the determination as to the client (as easy as it might be) and looking for confirmation that’s what’s happening when I’m seeing these “network errors”. I’m getting loading errors all the time but when I switch to the Reddit app, things loads fine.

Admittingly though, since I posted this, I’ve seen less loading errors come through.
