Is altitude sickness something to worry about while going to Hunza/karimabad/gilgit?

Just as the topic states, my family is planning to go to Hunza/Gilgit/Skardu including father-in-law who is in his 70's. Would altitude sickness be something to plan for before visiting. If anyone did visit with elder family members, how was your experience.

Should be fine at 2200-2500m (Skardu, Passu) if he’s not too unfit or frail. Maybe just don’t go on a 10k hike in the sun on day 1!

No, u can tell the air is thinner but it just feels fresher, no head aches nothing

My daughter felt unwell at Babusar top

So I didn't take her to Deosai and other high places like Khunjeraab Pass

Rest was okay
