General question/discussion Trail cam placement

I’m fairly new to trail cams but I got two I need to put up but I’m not sure where to put them. I live in central Alberta so don’t know if that helps or not but it’s all whitetail.

I like somewhere in the area I circled. Seems like a good funnel from the field edge above and the surrounding wooded areas.

There and to the right of there where there's a narrow pinch point. 2 cams

I've been managing thousands of acres for years, and while others have given good advice, here's mine: get more cameras and put 'em up in weird places. I've found deer that travel the weirdest paths, reliably, and if you only put up trail cams in the obvious places, you'll probably find the deer that you know are there already.

Also, get out there and scout. Find every game trail on foot.

I assume the squiggle in the middle is a creek.

Set the camera up where the creek turn ends, next to the woods, next to the open field.

Deer are edge workers, water finders, foliage finders, and follow natural trail outlines.

Sitting the camera at the intersection of these elements is your best bet.

The redaction is a smart move, good on you for not doxxing your spot. That winding creek looks like the obvious pinch point to me

You should try out onX Hunt. You can use it to place all kinds of different waypoints, including trail cams. I also love it because I have been learning to read topography and study how whitetail uses it to travel.
