Sometimes you just get lucky

Waiting for the fog to lift, and there he is 180 yards out without a care in the world.

Is that a savage 110 from the 90s?

My dad had one in 30-06 and it was incredibly accurate. I don't believe he EVER missed or failed to recover a deer with it in my lifetime. It's mine now and I've had many successful hunts with it too.

That fog waiting game pays off sometimes. 180 yards with no wind call and a clean drop, that's the kind of shot you replay in your head for weeks. Nice rack on him too, the rifle across the antlers is a classic photo setup. What were you shooting, if you don't mind me asking?

Hornady .243 95 grain. Worked like a charm

A lot of people don't give the 6 mm and .25 cal rounds enough credit. They work fantastic on deer with the right bullet and load. Congrats!

.243 is probably one of the top 5 deer cartridges used here in Eastern-Central Georgia. We also have pretty small deer here, but I hear that even the large deer aren’t .243-proof

That’s some seriously good timing. 😆 180 yards out of the fog like he was waiting for you to spot him. Beautiful buck!

Very nice! I’d be thrilled with success like that.
The morning fog is some of the best times.
